Dishwasher Buying Advice/Question

Is your kitchen kinda open to the living room?
Because my Bosch is super quiet.
It shoots a red laser onto the floor to let you know it's running......its that quiet.
The new one now displays a countdown to when the cycle is complete.

I feel it’s a little over the top, but it is handy.

Us too now. We’re replacing with Frigidaire. I didn’t do much research. Just getting matching brands and limited by fridge size
I have a Frigidaire Gallery Series dishwasher. Worst dishwasher I have ever owned. Can't wait for it to die so I can get a Bosch or Miele.

We got a kitchenaid about 6 months ago and my wife loves it. It replaced a Samsung that was garbage. The model we have has a third rack and that is super nice for big utensils and small dishes. I have no idea how the drying works.

Another vote for a Bosch, once you have one they spoil you. When we moved last year, the original dishwasher worked fine, was loud. First thing we replaced with a Bosch 800 series, never regretted it. You get what you pay for and you just cannot beat the Bosch dishwasher.

Having a Kitchen Aid kitchen (stove, fridge, and dishwasher) I will say that my next set of appliances will not be KA. Definitely going with a Bosch DW next time and probably a fridge and stove as well.

FWIW, the DW has been the least problematic of the three - stove and fridge are neck and neck for the most problematic.

I will say anything under 65dBa is going to be quieter than a conversation between two people - which most DWs are.

Have had to replace the lower rack slides and a pump / motor and it’s maybe 5 years old.

To me that isn’t necessarily the big issue, it’s the downtime to figure out what’s wrong, order the part, and fix it. Oh and in the case of the DW, pulling it out from under the countertop and putting it back - always a treat.

I have a Bosch. We bought this house over three years ago and the Bosch in the house was already 10 years old. It’s the quietest, cleanest dishwasher I’ve ever owned. Our prior home we had a Whirlpool in it. It is nothing compared to this Bosch. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get 20 plus years out of it. In my opinion, the premium you pay is worth it for a Bosch.

Go Bosch 800 series, or if you have to spend less, the top of the line KitchenAid is great as well. I have purchased one of each in the last two years and they are both the best I've ever had. Bosch is a bit quieter, but both do a comparable job of getting dishes clean and dry. I think the Bosch will last longer than the KitchenAid.

I didn't even realize they made fridges & stoves tbh, I just thought the majority of people in this thread have mis-matched appliances. Which wouldn't really matter to me, but some people are anal about that. Bosch 800 is like $1,500, I'd have a hard time justifying that when you can get a lot of other stainless <50db ones for half that.

Our house had a GE when we bought it, and it's still cleaning the dishes great after 8-9 years (that's with wife & kids who don't rinse off anything..). Zero issues for us - not the quietest thing, but you really only slightly hear it for maybe 15-20 mins of each cycle. And we typically only run it once every couple days, so usually do it overnight or while we're working anyway.

Whatever you do, make sure the interior is stainless steel. At our old house we had a non-stainless one when we moved in, when it crapped the bed the guy at Home Depot talked us into the stainless steel interior and we've never looked back. It allows the dry cycle to get hotter than plastic and dramatically helped with drying.

Get one with a silverware drawer on the top - absolutely clutch and frees up space below for more dishes.

In 44 years we had a Maytag that lasted 8 years. The last 36 years have had two Bosch dishwashers. Bosch is better on every feature. Buy the Bosch...it will still be good when you do your remodel in 10 years.

Same. Bought a Samsung a little over a year ago as I have a discount through work. Worked great for just over a year, then it stopped filling with water. Luckily, they had a promo going when I bought it that extended the warranty 2 years for $1. They sent a tech out, thought he fixed it, but didn't. They ended up issuing a nearly full refund, so it could have been worse.

Bought a Kitchenaid 3 rack to replace itand my wife loves it. I interact with it about as much as she interacts with the range (I cook, she cleans), so hard for me to give a ringing endorsement, but it is quiet. About the only thing that lets you know it is running a cycle is hearing the faint sound of drain water entering the garbage disposal.

I have a Samsung electric range and microwave and so far, those have been great. Knocking on wood as I type this.

we bought a samsung on a labor day sale about 5 years ago and i have a feeling we'll be getting a new dishwasher in the next year.
