I'm not happy with the dish network software update. The scrolling through the guide and DVR is extremely slow and non responsive. It been like this since the update occurred in January. Ive been loyal to Dish for many years but damn technology is supposed to get better. Seems like dish want back 15 years?

Only problem we are dealing with Dish is that we still have our 10 year old old dish on the roof and it doesn't give us all channels in HD. When I call, we get the broken record that it is the most updated equipment, which we know it isn't. Other than threatening to go Direct, what is the best response?

With everything normally "On Demand" the dvr is becoming obsolete. Maybe in a couple years the continued breakthrough will be enough for me to take the plunge.

I agree. It seems like they're trying to do too much with the first generation hopper. I don't know if the latest have more processing power and memory that this new software runs smoother, but ours hasnt worked well since the update as well. My wife has given her blessing that we can drop it as soon as the spring shows are done. Thinking of going without through the summer and starting Youtube.tv in the fall.

Haven't had any issues whatsoever. Nice part is that I add my RV receiver in the fall for tailgating and I have full access to my DVD on the road to record games we can watch later in the tailgate. Definitely enjoying the move to hopper.

After that amount of time I wouldn't be surprised if you need to have your dish realigned. Not sure of your location but in the DSM area Satellite City could take care of that. Or switch you to Direct.

Have you tried running through the diagnostics for signal strength, etc.?

Which generation of hopper did you get? My in-laws hopper is newer and it works fine. We have one of the original hoppers and it's terrible.

We switched to YouTube TV about 6 weeks ago and just this weekend my wife said she "really likes YouTube TV, likes the onscreen guide and is glad we switched to it"! If I got my wife on-board then YouTube TV is doing something right! We have been more than pleased with the switch.
