Glad to see he finally got into the game today. Just wanted to get you guy's opinion. Why doesn't he play more? Is he still in Fred's doghouse or is he just not any good? Don't get me wrong, I like Bubu, but it seems to me that a guy like Phillips should be a better 7th or 8th man. If he's not any good, this guy was pretty overhyped. Phillips certainly hasn't shown much this year, but I'm not really sure he's been given a chance. Thoughts?

I think the injury slowed him, but it's my uninformed opinion that the transition from Juco to D1 ball has just been too much. He seems unable to "speed up" his game to match the better athletes he's going against.

I hope he will contribute down the road, but I don't see him challenging for major minutes.

Overhyped imo. Read an article saying he wasn't top 2 players on the MCC team. However if he stays i think he can fit in well with the team next year. He will be getting alot of open shots and drives if he gets his minutes.

First of all people need to get over their mental block of Bubu. They assume because he's a McDermott walk-on that he isn't any good. Bubu is quick, handles the ball well, and can pass. From what I've seen from Phillips (which isn't much since he doesn't play) is that he tries to do to much and makes bad decisions.

This year is going to be a lost cause for him. He picked a terrible time to get injured and his injury is a very tough one to come back from quickly.

We play in the Big 12. Bubu is not a Big 12 player.

Watch DP when he doesn't have the ball. He seems to not know where to be on the floor at times. Just seems overwhelmed with the game right now.

Thank you for reinforcing my point.
So you're fine with having Bubu in the rotation against Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, and Baylor? We will be playing 4 on 5 on offense whenever he is in the game.

Bubu can become a big 12 player. If you think about it he has a chance to start next season. He knows the offense far better than anyone else coming in for that spot. He had a good game today. Second in scoring with 11 which isn't much. But DG stole the spotlight.

And who else do you suggest we substitute in? Phillips? Its also Bubu's job to handle the ball and assist, which he does well enough since he is the point guard. I don't expect him to drive into the lane and get 10 points/game no matter who we play.

So because he's had one good game in his career against Dartmouth he is going to be a starter next year ahead of Scott Christopherson, Chris Allen, Chris Babb, or Tyrus McGee?

I agree. Its disappointing, I think alot of people had him penciled into the starting lineup before the season started. The injury was definitely a setback for him too.

I think Bubu is serviceable for us now, but once we get into the Big 12 it's gonna be a different story. If he hits the weights and bulks up he could turn into a lock down defender but his height will prevent him from being useful outside of guarding guards......which is very important though.

First of all. Scott and Chris won't be playing pg. So yeah he is better than them at the pg position. And none of us have seen Tyrus McGee and he still has to learn the offense. As far as Chris Allen he will be sg. He is a scorer.

Your point was people can't see past the Walk-On title and realize he could be a good player for us it wasn't about who else was going to play. I know we don't have any other options right now but unless he drastically improves he will not be an adequate rotation player for us in Big 12 play.

I think if Bubu could put on some weight and develop his shot a little more in the coming years he could be a player similiar to Kantrail Horton. That's wishful thinking, I thought Kantrail was outstanding, but thats the direction I would take Bubu in.

Our offense isn't hard to learn. Bubu has come nowhere close to proving he can be a Big 12 point guard, especially not next year when we should be a team participating in the postseason.

Did you not watch the game today? I've been more impressed with Bubu than Anderson as of late. I'll agree with the other poster. He's quick, can get to the rim, can play defense, and today showed he can hit it from 3.
