Has anybody else tried deep fried Coke?

It is a concoction of Coca-Cola fountain syrup and gooey batter deep fried, topped with whip cream and cherries, and doused in even more Coca-Cola syrup.

Yum yum.

I have not experienced that concoction...but this summer at the Orange County Fair in southern California I did get talked into a chocolate covered fried twinkie! I have to admit that is was very good!

I went to the fair last night. The "sweet" smell of deep fried foods wafting through the air... I swear to God my arteries hardened just walking through there. But then I got to the Bud Tent and everything was right with the world again.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; let's sell deep-fat fried sticks!

A perfect combination of the two main ingrediants of Fair Food.

Do they deep fry in canola or sunflower oil? You could use Diet Coke and save some calories.

Unfortunately the sweetener in Diet Coke doesn't react well to heat. I don't think you can cook with it.

On a related note, I just got back from a German fest, where I had a Hax'n. It's a Ham Hock, and is probably the most tasty huge lump of pork fat I've ever eaten.

I took a pass on the deep fried beef patties, and the 3 pounds of fried Carp sandwich they were serving next door.

I DID suck down a couple Mass mugs of fresh brewed beer, and that kind of made up for itl, though....
