Sold a video game on ebay for some extra beer money and the sale ended Monday night. I sent the invoice that following Tuesday and today I still havent recieved my payment. I messaged the buyer Wednesday with no response. Buyer has the dreaded ZERO feedback. What do I do now? Wait it out and file a claim on ebay in a few days? Will this still protect my feedback ? I dont want some yahoo giving me a negative feedback because they didnt know what the hell they were doing.

Thoughts / Experience ?

I had this experience last summer, I don't remember all the details but if you do it right nothing will count against you. There is a set of instructions on ebay to follow.

Basically there is a set amount of time you have to wait(you might already be past it) and then you can file a complaint with Ebay. Then the seller has a day or two to respond to Ebay, if they don't then the transaction is basically erased from your POV and you're free to repost it. I think the seller has it on their record that they didn't pay for an item.

I knew someone would say this, i just didnt want to go through all the steps then be able to still receive negative feedback. I didnt know for sure and wanted more insight.
That's the best way to handle the process. I've done this before and it takes a while, I think you have to give them 4 days to respond, and it is a pain, but Ebay knows this happens and they have the steps laid out for you.

Next time you sell you can put restrictions on who bids and who doesn't, such as zero feedback or certain ebay members. It's somewhere in the pages when you are writing the posting.

At least you use to be able to do that.

Customer support is the best way. They do take pretty good care of you and can prevent negative feedback/comments if you are found to be justified in a situation. A few years back my wife sold a purse on ebay and accidently sent it next day air rather than standard ground USPS. Don't ask me why but the buyer went crazy about it. He claimed we did not fulfill our contract to have it sent ground even though it showed up days before he should have got it and was at no cost to him. He kept leaving messages and giving negative feedback to the point where we contacted customer support. Once they investigated the whole thing they erased all messages and feedback from the idiot.
