What's up with the mask? Did he break his nose? I bet wearing that thing sucks. Probably not as bad as when BB players have to wear them but still...

i heard his nose was broken, maybe i am wrong. in wrestling vision is not nearly as important as it is for basketball, there are advantages and disadvantages to the mask. Once you become used to the mask though and all the adjustments are made it really is second nature and there is almost no difference to wearing it or not. (except looking like a creep everytime you go out on the mat)

Your right, it indicated on the write up that he in fact broke his nose against Clarion.....

Cael said in an interview its just a run of the mill broken nose no big deal. and as for the mask its a pain in the butt. is way worse having it on in wrestling because you need your peripheral vision a ton. but if you practice with it like he has all week you get used to it and it wont be a problem. but i have heard he may not use it in the match, who "nose".(bad joke)

For anyone who didn't see it, ISU is #1 in the nation now, no surprise.

the mask isn't that big of a pain in the butt. it does take time to get used to, but the only pain is having to adjust balance issues when you are using your face on the mat. it can lead to some serious neck pain but i doubt that is a concern.

peripheral vision is hardly used in wrestling, especially by skilled wrestlers. a good wrestler could probably wrestle with his eyes closed, you "see" more by tactile sense, feeling the position of your oponent, knowing where their foundation is and realizing the weak points to disrupt their balance. for good wrestlers that is second nature while you are intertwined with the opponent. the only thing you actually need to see are the legs while you are taking a shot and i really hope we arent doing that with our heads turned!
