I thought it would be much much worse TBH.
wife and i went in 2018 and paid $300/ticket to be 4 rows behind the basket
about what you'd pay to be in the 4th row in Hilton for a conference game

I just assumed small venue + at least 4 of the 8 are pretty damn good teams = way more than $750 for 3 games.

challenge in 2018 was they didnt offer digital tickets so craigslist & scalping outside area was only way to get a ticket unless you got the all session / booster pass

if i go in 2024 and i can get a booster pass to see all 3 ISU games, ill gladly pay the $745

We bought the all sessions passes in 2018. They had added a wristband for each session to limit resales. We figured out that we could put the bands on loosely, and slowly stretch them out to get them off. Duke fans were such a-holes at the one game of theirs that we watched, we felt absolutely NO guilt in reselling the tickets for one game at around $400 each. We had a bidding war going between two Duke fans.,,it was bizarre. But it paid for our rental car for the 5 days in Maui and another for the extension in Oahu (we figured if we were flying that far we were going to get our money's worth). Digital tickets might fark that whole thing up for the half-session resales. If we go, we'll get in on the booster tickets this time (we decided too late to be a part of the booster package thru ISU).

It looks like the tickets this year are for two games (two session per day) - in Maui they were for single games and they emptied the building after every game. With this field the session ticket prices seem reasonable.

You're talking about the games next week, right? Not the 2024 games?

Yes - TBD whether the games next year will be moved back to Maui - with the devastation in that area that may be a challenge even a year from now.
And that's too bad. Lahaina and the resorts just north where the teams stayed are far less congested and touristy/commercialized than Honolulu.

Just took a peek at the first game (Syracuse - Tenn) and so unusual to see all of the empty seats - something you NEVER saw when it was played in Maui. Sometimes the smaller venues lead to a better environment.

There are Oahu hotel options outside of Waikiki on the west side and on the North Shore which give you the less congested experience. And you can save money by doing part of your stay at a Waikiki budget hotel (I did a staycation at an okay one this last summer)- something Maui unfortunately doesn't seem to have like it used to.

If we go back to Oahu, we won't stay "on" the beach again. We were in a hotel up at the north end Waikiki. We spent most of our time there anywhere BUT Honolulu, so staying there wasn't really necessary. ;)

Sounds like you already have it figured out how to spend less on a hotel on Oahu when you want to by staying at a hotel on the mauka (mountain) side of Waikiki :).

Based on last year and even the event in 2018, I don't think we really had information / ability to purchase on ticket packages until sometime in July or August. They usually come out each month with information on each team that will be there and that starts in February.
I already have airline and other island hotels booked and just waiting to determine if it will be on Maui or Oahu and package information to complete the trip. Another three week island getaway for us.

All tournament passes just went on sale today. Here's what it says for Iowa State packages:

"Top Cyclone Club members will receive priority access to ticket and travel packages. Based on availability, packages may become available to general fans starting 2/29."

I'm Gold, and haven't seen anything yet, but I have very little priority points as 2024 will only be my second Gold year and don't have any season ticket or parking points.

Anyone seen anything more?

Wish ISU would define “top”
