2nd round is always tough to pick...

Most sites i'm seeing are saying that Will really improved his stock at Orlando, and that he was the most athletic of the point guards in camp. There's not really a good crop of point guards this year either.

I think Will goes early 2nd round (2nd Big 12 player picked, after Aldridge), and Curtis doesn't get drafted.

One thing to remember, if you're not drafted by the early 2nd round, it's better not to be drafted. This is because you can then choose which team has a greatest need for your skill set, and sign a free-agent deal with them, get in their summer program, and try to make the team that way. When you're drafted, you're obligated to a team that might have only a passing interest in you.

Suns appear willing to move up in ndraft to go after Saris Senna 7 fter with 7-8 wingspan. Here was Will as a recruit:

Leandro Barbosa and Boris Diaw were both drafted as point guards.... Diaw has proven he can play all 5 positions as the suns used him at center this past season. And he was considered a throw in in the Joe Johnson trade. Barbosa definitely has the skills to play the point. And with no second round pick and a larger need (ie: a big man) they would be better off getting a post player. Think about what they did without Amare Stoudamire last season and what they could have done with him! It would be Phoenix vs. Miami in the finals

I'm going to go on the record that Curtis Stinson will not be drafted (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). And no, I don't have any sources. Just looking at the various mock drafts, Stinson is no where to be seen.
As for Blalock, I'll predict that he'll go anywhere from #36 to #46. (I know, not too much of a stretch.)
We'll all find out next Wednesday...

I just don't see what an NBA team would see in Stinson. He's basically an offensive-minded NBA point guard without a jump shot. Blalock is more of a pure point guard with great athletic ability. Stinson was an outstanding college player, but he would need to by 6'5" or 6'6" to make an impact in the NBA. Teams won't be looking at Blalock to score; he can breakdown defenses and really pass the ball, and he has a decent 20-foot jumper. Stinson may be taken before Blalock, but it would be a mistake...Blalock has the more promising future!

Draft is 28 Jun or tomorrow. ESPN think tank said all choices up to middle of second round will be good and then it gets mushy after that. If they want heart, they need to pick Curtis. If they want athletic ability, go for Will.

Nice article about Will: http://www.draftexpress.com/headlines.php

Looking to be Timberwolves or Magic choice for Will.

The Suns would definitely like to get a big man in the first round to shore up their interior defense, but their second biggest need is a pg to give Nash a rest. Neither Barbosa nor Diaw is a true PG (even if they were drafted with that intention.) The team is much stronger if Barbosa comes off the bench to play the 2 and Diaw plays the 3 or 4. If they don't trade up it sounds like they'll use their two picks for one big man and one PG.

Curtis chances have just improved. The NBA is going to use a new ball, first in 35 years. They will chnage from leather to microfiber for a better grip when wet. Go Curtis.

That is just one of the changes on the new game ball, which was unveiled by league and Spalding officials at a news conference at the NBA Store and will be put into use at the start of the 2006-07 season.

The biggest, and most important, difference is that the ball is no longer leather. Instead, it's made of a microfiber composite that allows for a much better and more consistent grip.

The ability to grip the leather was a driving reason behind the first change to the ball in more than 35 years.

"That really became a challenge, particularly when the ball was wet," said executive vice president of operations Stu Jackson.

Jackson said the ball was tested at the 2005 All-Star Game and predraft camp. The league then asked Spalding to make some changes, and it was brought back for more testing at this year's All-Star Game and in the Development League.

Most players will be familiar with the feel of the new ball. Stern pointed out that leather balls were no longer used at the high school or collegiate level, and Jackson estimated that "99 percent" of the league's players grew up using only a composite ball.

"This is another step as we all work together to improve the game of basketball," Stern said.

Gone also is the old eight-panel design, replaced by one featuring two panels -- each bearing the signature "David J. Stern."

I predict Will will be drafted on the last pick and be traded with Cato to Boston to play with Paul Pierce and Curtis will be picked as undrafted signee by the Knicks and watch Isiah release three other guard combos.
