I graduated from ISU 10 years ago. Tuition as more than doubled in that time at ISU. That is crazy. Why do they need so much money to keep the ISU going? DMACC isnt nearly that high. My wife is getting her masters at DMU and her masters costs less per credit hour than than an undergrad credit hour at ISU. Its getting to be crazy.

No, but you said yourself it's cheap for her compared to mine. So I had to ask.

I hate to think what it is going to cost when my kids go to college. I could save every dime I make between now and then and probably still not have enough.

funny thing is i heard on the news that within 5 years, they are going to try and make people who can afford college to actually pay more so those in need that don't have the money can go to college for cheaper...i don't care who is in office if that happens that right there my friends is socialism!!!

Good thing I will have graduated by then. Its too bad cause I actually worked my *** off through high school and the last few years of college so I could graduate to what I hope is zero debt. On this same topic, but does anyone know if that college/volunteer credit is going to kick in or when? Cause I would like to take advantage of that.

Quite simply, they charge it because people are willing to pay it. The ease of getting financial aid really puts the thumb on the scale in terms of what universities can charge.

Econ 101 - supply and demand. Too much money chasing seats in the classroom. It is the reason tuition continues to rise at rates greater than that of inflation.

If fewer people would be willing to borrow up to their eyebrows for an education, tuition costs would be lower.
