nice article. he has played really well these first two games. Same thing goes for our entire secondary. It's been awesome to see them do well so far.

I'm not sure there has been a bigger upgraded position on our defense than Givens at SS. Maybe George at MLB.

I loved Benton in the nickel/hybrid position, but he was pretty pedestrian as a safety. I love the ball skills that Troy Douglas is working on with the defensive backs. It is really paying off with these interceptions.

We had 11 interceptions all of last last year, and already have 4 in the first two games. That puts us on pace (although it is unlikely to keep up at this pace) for 24 this season, more than double last season.

Linebacker Jake Knott’s Mohawk pre-Iowa bet with defensive coordinator Wally Burnham proved to be legit. The proposition: If the Cyclone defense held the Hawkeyes scoreless, Burnham would get a Mohawk.
Burnham eschewed the shears because ISU won the game 9-6.

This probably the biggest disappointment of the defense to date.

We'll find out how good the pass coverage really is after the TT game, but I think this secondary has shown a lot potential to out perform last years. Impressive how easily(so far) ISU has replaced an NFL player and a pretty good safety.
