Egos are far too big, but if they weren't some sort of teamwork between the P5 so that the programs can be re-grouped into something that more closely resembles 1991 (before the divisions started being introduced) would be great for fans and the teams they support.

Good article. We don't usually see that kind of frustration in your articles. You are amped up.

OU sounds like they're intentionally trying to stir the pot to get their way. They must feel pretty uncomfortable here which is ironic because I'd argue a good part of the league's instability is their fault as of late.

The Big 8 made a deal with the devil when they annexed the old SWC expats.

I enjoy the paychecks, but the level of discord, politics, and Texas/southern ****ery has really sucked the fun out of college athletics for me

Are Nebraska and Missouri now considered "southern"?

WILLIAMS: Big 12 with another PR botch, what league should do

Absolutely loved fired up CW today in his Boren rant and agree with a lot of his points-

ISU is much more valuable than Kansas because of the large disparity in football value

BYU, Cincy and Boise St should be the targets for the B12 to expand. I think that the round robin format is the best way to do it but I feel like going forward the B12 will be docked compared to other conferences if we don't expand. Maybe even just add them in FB, because thats what this is all about.

Expansion WILL help ISU in football, this would be a positive for conference equality, stability, and more potential wins

CW I got a big kick out of your Circle er Track around the football field at KU....Back in the day,Iowa State's Clyde Williams Field had said Track as did Mizzou's Far Out er Faurot Field..............btw so did the stadium in AustinTX....and many other fields did also.....

Now most are in the Dust Bin of history...thank goodness.................

I also think that Diahhrea of the mouth David Boren is a relic of the past and refuses to see that the future is NOT a conf network or adding teams with no geographical or financial value...............

As much as I Dislike Bob Bowlsby I will be the 1st to give him credit on this one......................

What OU wants the Big 12 cannot deliver which is a consistently sexy home schedule. Presumably they want into the Pac 12 south or the SEC.

We can talk about how secure the Big 12 is but what other conferences have presidents b*tching about the conference they're in? OU is quickly becoming a CU/MU scale b*tch Pac/SEC wannabe and that turned out badly for the Big 12.

Missouri is southern. The bastards had a shadow Confederate government for gawd's sake.

Nebraska was a *****, but they were our *****. Tacking on SWC members who **** in their sandbox so much thieir league imploded seemed like a good idea at the time. But we talk more about realignment and money than should be allowed for college sports.

Save the Big 12 or kill it. I'm getting past the point of caring. Find a soft spot to land with a good paycheck and push the plunger

Re: WILLIAMS: Big 12 with another PR botch, what league should do

There will not be a BIG 12 network while the Longhorn Network exists. I am glad that OU wants a conference network and agree with what Boren is saying, but criticizing your conference in public does nothing except maybe pad his ego, make it look like he is an active AD to his Board and to OU fans, or weaken the conference and attract invitations from other conferences passively.

If he truly wants a 12 team conference and a BIG12 Network he needs to be on the phone with UT, not spouting off in the press.

If that's the case they need to check out the home schedule of just about every school in a super conference. Super conferences are death to sexy home schedules.

The saddest part is that this has been going on so long that A) we're forced to accept that constant realignment is the new "normal", and B) there is an entire generation coming up that knows nothing of the way things used to be.

It's sad irony that the very thing that once made college sports so appealing (intense rivalries in conferences whose membership remained steady for a half-century or more) has been destroyed by schools' attempts to become even more appealing by getting richer. If it were up to me, I'd send back the video boards, the indoor practice facilities, the south end zones, and the multi-million dollar coaching payrolls if it just meant we could have a crack at teams we've been rivals with since before my grandfather was in college.

True hatred between bitter rivals right there.

Yes, but it gives you the easiest path to 12-0!
