Rick Barnes went from Texas to Tennessee this season and will do well. Bill Self went from Illinois to Kansas with pretty good results. Same with Roy Williams from Kansas to Carolina. Tubby Smith won a national title in year one after going from Georgia to Kentucky. That means nothing in respect to the current ISU coaching search. Looking for some template of previous success is pointless and will not be relevant.I'd agree with that. I did some more digging. The 3 previous years (2012-2014) there were 23 P5+BigEast coaching changes. I found 3 where a P5+BigEast coach was pulled from another P5+BigEast school: Cuonzo Martin was hired by Cal away from Tennessee Buzz Williams was hired by Virginia Tech away from Marquette Frank Martin was hired by South Carolina away from Kansas State That's not exactly a Murder's Row of winning coaches...
I just don't get how people are ABSOLUTELY SURE that this is the case, purely by looking at his resume. The two people who would know best whether TJ is ready to be a head coach are Pollard and Hoiberg, because they've both worked with him. Pollard has worked with him for most of the last 10 years.
I relate this back to my job. I'm in a management position that I would have never been chosen for if my resume had blindly come in the door, but the hiring manager had worked with me for almost 10 years, had seen me do all the tasks involved in the positions and in many respects "groomed" me for the position. Sometimes you know someone is ready for a job based off of their performance over a long period of time. That shouldn't be discounted simply because another resume looks better.
But none of that matters, because there is a subsection of our fanbase that implicitly distrusts Pollard for what ever reason and no matter what choice he makes, they will dislike it because he was the one making the choice.
With the staff that I've been told TJ will assemble makes me really hope he's our next HC.
What about Bruce Weber from Illinois to Kansas State or Tubby Smith from Minnesota to Texas Tech?I'd agree with that. I did some more digging. I am 100% certain that you have not been told who TJ would hire as his assistants. Maybe you have been told who someone is speculating he MIGHT hire as his assistants. There is a difference. With the staff that I've been told TJ will assemble makes me really hope he's our next HC.
Why would someone that hasn't been promised the job yet be assembling a staff?
Why would someone that hasn't been promised the job yet be assembling a staff?
will assemble
Why would someone that hasn't been promised the job yet be assembling a staff?
Why would someone that hasn't been promised the job yet be assembling a staff? I'd be more concerned that Otz is planning a coup d'état of the entire ISU athletic department in the event that he doesn't get the job.

#TeamUnderwoodSo brad underwood is following a lot of iowa State media and fans.
100% dead on. People who are so against hiring someone with little leadership experience likely have never held a position where they had to hire someone.
