Coach Murdoch goes for Record

Everybody should go to the ISU hockey games this weekend against ASU. It would be great to watch Dr. Al Murdoch become the coach with the most wins in college hockey history. If they win on Friday, it is win number 924, putting Coach Murdoch in a tie with Ron Mason of MSU. With a sweep on Saturday, that would make Coach Murdoch the coach with the most wins in hockey history. That's amazing!

There are Big 12 teams (Kansas, Texas Tech, Missouri) right now and they are getting better... just not Varsity Status. Oklahoma is 5th in the country right now in the ACHA. ISU is 8th. They will be coming here this year as well, those games should be barn burners.

I enjoy going to the hockey games. I was planning on going to the Volleyball match after the basketball game that day. Perhaps I could go to hockey instead...

My little brother who plays on the Ames High Hockey team just told me that the ISU hockey team voted 24-0 to remove Murdoch from coaching duties after the year. He said since its a club team, they could do that. He said he talked to one of his coaches that also plays for Murdoch. If this is true, I'm stunned....but I do know most people don't like playing for him from hockey players I've met. Keep in mind this is not meant to be a rumor and I have no proof as of now, but just wanted to pass along what I heard to see if anyone else heard something about it.

Murdoch is a real piece of work. He used to work for my department and was responsible for all of the sport club teams. We found out that he had been spending the entire club budget for ALL of the sports on the hockey team. We canned his ***, but he was able to hold onto his coaching position :no:

Sat, Nov. 9: AMES, IOWA — The Cyclones got their second consecutive sweep for the fourteenth win of the season Saturday night against Arizona State. The win not only gave the Cyclones a winning record, it gave Head Coach, Al Murdoch his 925 win, making history and becoming the winningist coach in all of college hockey, surpassing previous record holder Ron Mason from Michigan State at 924.

I played for coach in 2002 & 2003 and couldnt have met a nicer man. Congrats Coach Murdoch.
