Wow. I was very impressed with the knowledge this guy had on Iowa State. Its good to know that the nation is starting to recognize ISU as a serious player. Nice props for Meyer & Blythe too. Great article!

I don't like the fact that he says we shouldn't expect to be in the running for the Big 12 North every year.

I don't think he was talking about short-term expectations (ie. the next four or five years). It seemed to me, at least, that he was saying every team has its "down" periods, even if it's just a single season. There are very, very few football teams- if any- that are a consistent threat to their entire conference for decades on end. No matter how good a team or coach is, the fact remains that players graduate and new players come in that must be trained. Programs will fluctuate, and we shouldn't expect ISU to be bringing home the North trophy every single year without fail.

For the next two or three years at very least, I sure think we're right at the top of the North, and in the upper ranks of the Big 12. Seems like lots of other folks think that, too. But that doesn't mean that we- or Texas or Oklahoma- will still be the cream of the Big 12 crop 20 years down the road.

That's all he was saying.
