Simple, two trees.

Of course, you could go crazy like us, we do 6 full size trees and mini trees in every other room.

I just can't get myself to buy into the colored lights that she wants!!!

To me it just looks like a big mess and doesn't resemble anything related to Christmas....

P.S. I am going to show her how many people out there really enjoy the white lights ;)

Dear engaged dude,
My experience tells me this won't work and may actually make things worse. Best of luck to you in your admirable battle.

Signed,

We have a big real tree in our formal living room with white lights. More formal, i guess.

But we use colorful ones on our fake tree in the family room.

But we have like 10 Christmas trees in our house . . .

As long as you don't use the old circus-colored lights, either works. LED lights look so much nicer IMO

I tend to think if you have a larger house in a nicer neighborhood, white lights look a little nicer. I have some white LED's on my house (they say white, but it's something like cool white I think) and then I have multicolored lights in the trees and shrubs.

For my tree I used to go with white, but I like the multi-colored a lot more now. Our tree is decorated with older ornaments we inherited from our grandparents, though. The theme-trees look nice, but I like the nostalgia of ours. Every ornament means something to us.

I don't care what lights you use*, just don't turn them on until December 1.**

*Actually I prefer a mixture of houses. One uses colorded and the next house uses white.

**It's ok to put them up when it's a little warmer, just don't turn them on.
