I’m only watching from afar but wrestling seems like it’s imploding. Is that accurate? Or am I off base?

Not imploding. Still have Frost brothers, Ech, Paniro (3 AAs and a 2x Big 12 champ) at the weight range where Cody and Swiderski just left. Plus, wouldn't shock me if Dresser brings in some people in that range as well

I mean not gonna lie I'm pretty disappointed to be honest. Chittum was the #1 recruit in his class P4P, I know he has struggled a little bit, but he really seemed to love ISU which was amazing to see. Swiz was like #4 and the same can be said. Then we got Carroll who was like in the top 5. We always talk about being able to recruit kids in the top 10, well here was 3 of them and they are now gone. Not to mention what also sucks is that we had a lot of scholly money tied up in these three i bet, and now most of the 2026 class is committed, i know with NIL it's probably not as big of a deal, but still stinks.

I will say this, and it isn't just the 3 guys you mentioned above, but most certainly does include them..

In today's college wrestling, you see more and more young guys come in ready to roll at an early age as freshman. Sometimes as they get older, they regress. Regress as far as results go. Maybe not regress skill wise, but they max out. You are seeing it more and more. Kids win early and start to fade.. Also, college wrestling is a ******* grind man. Injuries pile up and they compound.

Some very highly ranked kids just also don't have the same results as others either. Again, they max out at much earlier ages these days. College wrestling is ******* hard and not every highly ranked kid succeeds to the level they and fans expect.

Lastly, the 3 kids above, weren't exactly totally CLEAN prospects. All 3 had baggage..

Plus these kids I’m guessing were very well trained at their clubs. Some may have maxed out already.

Give me quality kids that bust their ass and have great attitudes all day.

Fully agree. Also, we have to be more aware that freestyle success doesn't equal folkstyle success.. We have to scout better for college wrestling traits.. I will leave it at that without saying things that will get me in trouble..

And when I mentioned this distinct possibility several weeks ago, I generally just got mocked.

It's fine. We have a logjam from 141-157. Someone(s) had to go. This isn't a program implosion. Not by a long shot.
