For those that are considering going, rooms at the Meadowlands Embassy Suites are $169 a night assuming you are ok leaving on the 31st. The rooms are great as well because you can get 4 people in there pretty easily with the 2 room suites. You'd have to take a bus into the city but that's really easy and once there you can go wherever you want via subway. It's an option especially for those who get a flight into Newark.

Megabus : A little hectic to book from Des Moines - Chicago - Columbus/Cleveland - Pittsburgh - New York, but it could be done.

Priceline the hotels...you really can't go wrong unless you really want one hotel over another.

Newark EWR is usually cheapest.

Try Westchester Airport too.

ORD-EWR is $300 and a little less.

Stay in Bergen County, NJ, across the GW Bridge, which after crossing is only two exits to to Yankee stadium. Do not in Manhattan unless you want to stay in the best location.

whats your point?

I think maybe he's referencing the individual plane ticket when compared to splitting the gas 3 or 4 ways in a vehicle. I can't be sure. It's a pretty tricky connection to make.
