I was surprised when they showed Tom Schmeling as starting. Anyone know if he is really at top of post Spring Football depth chart?

I thought both the Fishers were on the left side, and that Schmeling would be getting the nod next year. I certainly think the job is open to competition.

I also didn't hear much about Reggie Stevens this spring. With Schmelling, Stevens and JC guy this fall Tibbs performing well in either starting or reserve roles I will feel much better about graduating 4 or 5 senior starters

I think you guys are a little timid w/ our squad, we are gonna be a force to be reckoned with in the Big 12 this year, trust me. This is the most confident I have been about a clone team, since.... well..... EVER!! We have a load of talent and an explosive offense.

One thing I dont' agree with on the article is that our weakness is our pass protection and back up QB? I was honestly impressed with Van Winkle in the spring game and our passing game last year.....our running game is our eyesore.....

We gave up 39 sacks last year. Our pass protection sucked. In the spring game we had our #1 oline going against #2 dline (which we lack depth in). I am very concerned about our pass protection. Van Winkle isn't Meyer, but I am comfortable with him at #2 after the spring game

OK, so maybe it would be better to say our pass protection is better in comparison to the running game.....I want to throw up when I see our RB suffer.....it seemed like Hicks didn't want to his the holes at full speed during the spring game....isn't he fully healthy now?

I don't understand how he can rate QB as a 7.5 and RB as a 7.5. I can understand the QB rating if you say what if Meyer gets hurt, but he's never been hurt. I could maybe see rating a healthy Hicks as a 7.5, but he's always hurt.

I find it unbelievable how loyal McCarney is to Hicks. I know he might be the best blocker on the team but what has he shown that proves he is a Big XII starter. I'll give him one or two games where he really looked good.

From what I remember, he had a really good year in 2004. Besides, the backup RB's had a bad case of fumblitus last year. Also, Coleman, who probably so the most time as the backup last year has been suspended. So our backups still have a fair share of problems.

Coleman is straight up gone. He's transferring to Montana.

Hicks was said to be totally healthy in Spring. While he was not listed as hurt in Spring game from what I saw he at least tweaked the old injury on the touchdown he scored.

If we do not fumble and we can run 4 yards a pop, we will have far fewer sacks. The other teams loaded up on the pass rush becuase we had no breakway threats. RUN THAT BALL CLONES.

One of the reasons our pass protection was diminished was because of Hicks' injury. He's our best blocker in the backfield.....Coleman and company couldn't pick up a block if his life depended on it.

Yeah, I'm not sure how this article failed to mention the running game on life-support? I think Van Winkle will be a good backup QB and the pass blocking is far better than run blocking. But I suppose I should wait until the season to see how things are.

Until the team quits pissing it down their leg and starts winning games that they should win, I'll remain pessimistic. We SHOULD have a good team this year. Using recent history as an indicator of what to expect, we will find new creative ways to lose the Big XII North title this year and end up in an insignificant bowl game that doesn't pay us.
