I never felt LE should have been fired over those pics from the MizzU party. I adamantly felt he should have been fired about a year+half earlier for what he did in Austin after the UT game.

Bruce Van De Velde supposedly knew about those photos WEEKS before the DM Register published them and chose to deal with the fall out and public opinion than head off the story in advance and make their own narrative by proactively releasing their own statement and how they were going to address the situation. After how that played out in the media BVD basically had no option other than fire him and some think that is exactly what he was hoping would happen which is why he let things play out they way they did.

You are spot on regarding BVDV's handling of the situation and it played a huge factor with him eventually getting fired (it wasn't a resignation, Geoffrey was waiting for Alvarez to retire as Wisky FB HC so JP became available). BVDV was also fired for his inability to fundraise due to his personality and LE fallout. And of course, BVDV became legendary for his posts on ISU message boards under multiple IDs during and after the LE fiasco.

LE unfortunately had some enablers while at ISU, including Pete, who could have taken steps to intervene and get LE into extended rehab. Being a public figure, a successful rehab probably would have been best facilitated by a move to another location for LE and maybe Pete and others did truly try to get him into rehab before things really blew up for him at ISU.

On the topic of Bruce, had a friend in college that was at a soccer game and apparently Bruce's wife and kids were sitting a few rows down from them in the bleachers which they had no clue who she was at the time. When Bruce showed up she said something to him and pointed back at them. Bruce came up and asked the guys to come down and talk to him for a minute and then laid into them about how he didn't appreciate them talking bad about him with his wife and kids sitting nearby. They hadn't said a word about him in their conversations so they were caught off guard by this accusation and told him his wife must be mistaken about what she heard. One of them told him he wouldn't have anything to worry about if he wasn't so paranoid about how much most Cyclone fans hate him. That caught Bruce off guard and he said something like "why would you think everyone hates me?" So they rattled off a bunch of things like how he handled the Larry situation, cutting the baseball program, the athletic department in general becoming stale and accepting of mediocrity, how the students generally don't like him because he's never done anything to show he's friendly to the student body or work on improving the fan experience for the students. Wish I could have been there to see that confrontation because from the sound of it Bruce was totally paranoid and clueless about people's perception of him.

So refreshing when we hired Pollard who has done unprecedented things in a relatively short time if you think about it.

@JStanz51 any update on this?

Please don’t take my questioning as ungrateful. I understand the work these take but was hoping to not have to wait 2 months between listens.
