Can a man buy a small SUV?

I need a new SUV but the budget and gas prices mean I don't want to get something large like my last vehicles of a Ford Explorer and GMC Envoy. My question is this - certain cars are clearly girl cars (Honda CR-V) but is a Mazda CX5 acceptable for a man?

The only small SUV that doesn't look like a rounded spaceship to me is the GMC Terrain and even that is pushing up my price limits. It seems like all the other small SUVS have the exact same body shape.

Does anyone have any thoughts for me? If you are a car dealer (GMC Terriain :)!!) I'd love to hear from you.

I need AWD and it needs to be an SUV of some sort.

(BTW - My 2 year old Explorer was 8k and my 6 year old Envoy was 3,500 so I really have had some killer deals which is clouding my judgment).

I've been thinking of trading in the Pretty Pretty Truck Truck for a small SUV. I think you are safe with keeping your man card buying any small SUV.

No. However, I believe something like a Kia Sorento or Hyundai Sante Fe (2013) would be acceptable and might meet your price and mileage criteria.

Or get the CR-V and show you're not bound by artificial stereotypes. But you have to turn in your man card.

I like the 2013 Santa Fe but it's too expensive for me. We can't all be farmers and computer engineers

Well, first off, the Envoy and Explorer aren't "large" SUV's, they're the mid-size level. And I'm pretty ticked that GM essentially discontinued any affordable mid-sized SUV. If you want anything with towing power at all now you have step all the way up to the Tahoe, which is a gas hog and way too expensive.

As you mentioned, the Terrain is also way too expensive for what it is.

I personally don't think the smaller SUV's are worth a ****, I wouldn't recommend any of them. Guess I'll be holding on to my 2007 Trailblazer that I bought in 2009 for $10K until the wheels fall off of it. It's a crappy motor vehicle market right now.

I have a crv. If anybody has a problem with that, you can eabod. I've put 120k on it in the past 4 years. Perfect for road trips for us and the other couple we travel with.

How about a Jeep Wrangler. That is tough. MacGyver drove one, didn't he? Make sure you have a roll of duct tape, paper clips and a ball point pen in the glove box.

I'm in the same boat. My Envoy only gets 11 mpg in the city but it's been paid off forever so the gas money is probably cheaper than the potential car payment. I know those aren't "large" SUVs but they are large compared to what I'm looking at buying soon. I want to spend under 23k and I need AWD (ugh- just call it four wheel drive).

What's a 30 year old with fear of spending supposed to do?!

My parents recently bought a Ford Escape and it's pretty slick. We use it haul kayaks and our small fishing boat. Really good for roadtrips.

If you honestly have to check with this site to see if it's kosher for your manhood to get a small SUV, perhaps you should check if you had manhood in the first place. If you want to buy a small SUV, go buy one - and **** everyone else. You're the one dropping thousands of dollars on a vehicle, you're the one that has to be happy with the purchase, not the rest of us.

I have a CRV also. It's the most popular vehicle to pull behind a motorhome with all four wheels down. That's why I bought it. However, it does get good gas mileage and will run forever. I also have an '04 Wrangler Rubicon with all of the goodies.
