I don't know what to make of it. I do know there was buzz around the Lions pushing for him back in January, but that was more their fan sites than anything sourced. SI had an article that said potential coaches were not sure about the job due to the Lions indicating they were trading Matt Stafford, which would suggest CMC probably did not have authority in that situation. They did ultimately hire a GM to keep personnel decisions in the front office, so who knows.
It is very good for ISU in the near term if CMC is the white whale other programs cannot get. I always thought that his desire to handle negotiations personally instead of using an agent worked to ISU's favor, he was sort of hard to get to, that way. But if the report is true, he is listening, I think.
