Browns QB situation

I was listening to Rome today and he made a good point about Cleveland having a tough QB decision if they can't afford both Quinn and Anderson. So I'll put it to a poll and see what you all think.


On one hand you have your franchise QB in Quinn that you have no clue how he will turn out and you've paid a lot for.

On the other hand, you have a guy who IS winning games and if you let him go, he'll win somewhere else.

Good solution: Trade Anderson to the Bears and go with Quinn. :yes:

I think a lot of franchises stay with struggling QBs because they can't swallow their pride and play the guy they didn't give multi-million deals.

What's Anderson's contract look like? Is he playing on a one year deal?

I don't know what they should do because I can't see Quinn in practice. However, I can almost guarantee that they don't sign Anderson. He will want a long term deal, and the Browns can't give him the amount of guaranteed money he has deserved. It will be a similar situation to Kitna and Carson Palmer in Cincy.

the way i see it look at the packers.. they thought favre would be gone by now.. keep both.. get rid of some ppl and get some draft picks get some steals in the draft call it good

quinn makes 20 mil for 5 years. anderson contract is up after the year, currently making $435,000 a year which is the league minimum for a third year player.link

So you've got a 3rd year guy that so far he is proving he can win in the NFL when surrounded by some talent. His contract ends this year, so he's completely free - if he signs elsewhere you get nothing for him.

You've got a rookie that has not seen the field in the regular season, may or may not be a "system QB" and has a big, long-term contract. He's been billed as the QB of the future in Cleveland. If you part ways with him, you could get something in return.

I'd dangle Quinn and see what I could get for him. If a first round pick, I think I'd do it without much hesitation. Basically get back what you spent on him in picks, minus the cash ya paid him this year.

Right now he's a complete unknown while Anderson has proved he can lead the team to wins.

I don't think there is any possible way they'd get a first rounder when they're in a situation where they need to move him.

By the way, I hate Derek Anderson. I was banking on the Browns getting our Cowboys a top 10 pick.

I was too...this thing is irritating me. However, it's hard not to root for 'em - they're playing pretty damn well and Derek is fun to watch.

And I find it amusing the Ravens had a real NFL QB on their roster and let him go.

This is exactly like Cincy. Kitna knew he was the short term answer and I think Anderson knows that too. He's playing for a big payday and given some of the QBs in the league right now he'll get it - just not from the Browns.

It puts the Browns in a tough spot if Quinn sucks, but they drafted and signed him.
