Anyone else hearing the rumor that Bono is going to be fired from other boards? Sounds like it is from recruiting violations, which wouldn't shock me. Also wonder if this could lead Wick to transfer (although he originally went to Wisconsin for Barry, so he might be there for the school and not coach). But, if he does decide to transfer, I know a school that could really use a 165 lber....

Haven't read the rumors recently but there has been a lot of smoke around that situation for a while now.
I do believe we were recruiting the Wicks out of high school. However, that would've been KJ and the Paulsons, so there's really no connection anymore. Unless Dresser and St. John tried getting them to VT as well....

St. John and Metcalf would be two pretty darn good practice partners for him too...
You're right, this has to stop. We'll see what happens.
2 time AA at 165 (3rd as a freshman, 4th as a sophomore), would fill in very nicely for 2 years at 165 as a legitimate title threat and then Facundo could come in and start when Wick would graduate. Again, probably a pipe dream but it's always fun to dream

I don't claim to be tied into things badger wrestling related, but am a season ticket holder here in Madison and the chatter that's been around is Bono having to back off on pursuit of Gross (ala Storr and Virginia).
There has of course been some rumors about happenings at SDSU prior to his departure, etc. so maybe there is more to it...
If Wisconsin has to cut bait with Bono after one season that would really suck. Things were trending in the right direction this season with a thin roster and they have some big time recruits incoming. Hope none of it is true!
All that being said, if it hits the fan here in Madison and the transfers start coming there are definitely a few worth looking at. First and foremost is Wick (note that ISU was in him and Zander's top 5 pre-Dresser https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/5046266-wick-brothers-commit). That would be a massive addition and plug the main hole in the line-up right now. Another that would be a welcome addition Hillger, not sure if we had any ties to him coming out of high school but freshman-AA and would be an upgrade on any of the Gremmel/Duggan/Anderson trio.
They also have a slew of redshirts and incoming recruits that would be of interest if they were to become available... Tyler Dow, Jared Krattinger, Eric Barnett, Kyle Burwick, Pete Christensen, Aidan Medora, Josh Otto, Aydin Guttridge

I was thinking it might be about the former mayor of Palm Springs that wasn't a very good skier.
Personally, I hope this is all BS about Bono. He's a Cyclone legend and I hope he becomes and legendary coach for Wisky. I also remember rumors of the Paulsons being fired for tampering when they went to VA. These rules are very tricky to follow and I have nothing but respect for Bono/Reader. Best of luck to them in Wisky and I hope Schumacher (or any of our other guys) becomes the next Drew Foster. Then he can tell everyone wishing for a 165 transfer to suck it. If someone decides to come in and take the spot away... so be it. Until then, I'll be cheering for Logan and the Cyclones in the room.
