I'm looking for suggestions for a bluetooth headset, and figured what better place to ask than CycloneFanatic. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to these, and wondered which ones out there had the best value.

I've got an iPhone and Powerbook that both have bluetooth capabilities, and it'd be nice to have one headset that worked for both, if that's possible. I know there's that whole pairing issue, but I don't know how that works either.

Hopefully there's a nice one out there that's around the $50 mark, but anything that's $100 would probably be out of my range.

Wearing a Bluetooth at all times makes you a tool!!

Just kidding I have one that I use while driving they are pretty nice, but if you have one on at the night club with the disco music on, I'll mock you all night long.

I like my Motorola that I got for like $45 bucks, nothing too special. I have no insight into what makes them good or not though

Great question. I have been interested in getting one as well, but have never taken the plunge. It seems like there is a pretty wide range of prices on these things. I would hate to buy a cheaper one and find out it doesn't work well, but then I don't want to drop a bunch if I don't need to.

Hopefully some CFer's have some knowledge and experience with these things.

Agree 100%. Nothing says tool like wearing that stupid thing all day long. Get over yourself, you're not that important.

Additionally I'd go a step further and say if you are one of those guys still clipping your cell phone to your belt,.....don't look now but people think you're a tool.

Discussing on the internet about what other people do with their electronic devices and time - that has no impact on others - could also be tool-worthy...

Sorry I can't be of help, I have not used a headset for cellphones.

I typically use them for work, have tried a couple different brands but always go back to Plantronics. They seem to have ear-pieces that are molded just right so they fit better than other brands. The other brands just seem to have small/medium/large round ear-pieces, where plantronics have different sizes but also different shapes. Plantronics has a model, 665 I think, that has a car charger with it, so you can leave it in your car and it will always be charged. Nice for long trips.

Believe me, I hate seeing those people walking around in public apparently shouting at nothing, until you see them turn their head, and a black microphone is protruding from their ear...

I'm mostly looking for something with multiple uses, such as voice chat for online games and whenever I need to free a hand while I'm on the phone.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into Plantronics

I wear my work blackberry on my belt. Where else am I suppose to keep it? I haven't found a man purse I like yet.

I don't have a problem with the side pouch or whatever for a blackberry. I usually just carry mine or keep it in my coat pocket but understand what you're saying on that.

Pocket. I've always kept my smartphones in my pocket. I also almost always wear cargo pants, or pants with side pockets, though, so that's convenient.

Cut me some slack. I gave up the wallet on a chain and the key holder on the belt thing.

I have such a great body that I like to wear skin tight wranglers so my BB won't fit in my pocket.

BTW-Does anyone know where you can buy a good fanny pack. I can;t seem to find those things anywhere.

Exactly...your pocket. I have a blackberry and have never had any problem keeping it in the pocket of any pair of pants, jeans, shorts, or scrubs I have ever worn.

I think you can still get fanny packs at 1986.

People wearing these things look like DB's. When I say DB's I am not talking about our defensive backs at ISU. You don't look that bad.

I always feel like they are talking to me. It also makes you look like one of those homeless crazy guys that walk down the street and talk to themselves.

I wear one when I play my PS3 and I have to admit that I feel kind of like a DB. Although a 37 year old in the basement playing Little Big Planet on a 100" screen probably makes me a DB as well.

Agreed. There is nobody so important that they need to wear that thing all day in anticipation of some crucial phone call. It takes literally 6 seconds to pull your phone out of your pocket, push the button and say hello.

Now in the car, I understand. I coach a fastpitch team and my asst wears one of those all practice. I've told him he looks like a self important tard but he thinks he needs it on to respond quickly. whatever.

No worries, we don't judge
