In basketball, is there a "Mr. Irrelevant" for the last pick in the draft like in the NFL? If there is, I sure hope Will is able to prove it wrong.

That is crazy...I definently knew they should have stayed another year, now Curtis is stuck playing Euro ball, and Will is going to work REALLY hard to even make a cut. $5 says he goes to Boston.

Will should work out well for the Pistons, however, will all of the talk I heard following the WM firing, I too would not be surprised if he somehow ends up in Boston. And as bad of a night as the Knicks had in the draft, maybe the drama Curtis carries with him will be an added bonus to the Knicks org.

Good luck to WB and CS, but they would have been better off staying in school. They obviously wouldn't have hurt their draft prospects, and they could have received a degree.

Dumb question, what is WM up to now? From the comments is sounds like he's with the Celtics (?)

With the new rule last year applying age limits to the draft, next year's draft will be that much tougher to get picked. There are several players who would have been drafted out of High School this year, but will instead be added to the list of possible draftees next year. Putting myself in their shoes, I am pretty confident I would have done the same thing as Will and Curtis. Blalock has a 6 week old baby and supposedly Curtis has one on the way as well. Add into both of those situations the fact that their coach had been fired, and the draft seems like the most logical choice. Whether they would get drafted or not, they would be playing ball for money, and that is what they need to be doing.

I watched Portland Trailblazers make some weird moves through the first round. All major players were pretty much gone by start of second round.

One pro team picked a European player and then it seemed like anyone playing in Europe who was 6-10 to 7-0 became the rest of the round. I watched their film of the European Reebok game and was totally unimpressed with their talent. Peja Stokavic looked twice as goods compared to these guys. The 19 year old from England was not as good as Loren Meyer was when he was 19. Looks like SIZE ruled the whole draft. Those European guys will most likely be mincemeat against Alonzo Mourning, Elton, Shaq, Ben, even Kelvin Cato. They looked slow and methodical. Anyone under 6-3 like Will was a rarity to be picked.

The best thing was by being the last player chosen by the Pistons the other ten teams Will worked out for will not sign him unless they pay the Pistons. I truly believe Will was a #43 choice compared to the stiffs that were chosen. With the zone defenses now allowed in NBA, I predict the European shooters will be better defensed than ever. Just ask Peja and the Pacers. The athletes will take over again. That is why Will will stick in the NBA.

A real bonus was ESPN had lots of tape to run on ISU Will at the end of show, and he looked great. He even was shown dunking. Yes, it looked like "college Will tape" versus the "European high school tape reel" in the last ten picks.

Maybe Isiah will play a 5 guard combo team if he picks up Curtis. He was a guard, ean't he? Larry Brown wanted to dump StephonM and 3 other guards and eat $50M in salary. Owner said no and Larry was fired. Now Isiah has one year to make the playoffs before he is fired. Real bizarre in Knickland.

I have to admit that I'm pretty disappointed. I REALLY wanted the Cavs to draft Will so he could play with LeBron, and it's not like they don't need point guard help anyway. Detroit isn't a bad spot for him though, because they could be the best team with the least depth in the league. He could easily see 20+ minutes next year.

I don't know where Curtis will end up. I would think that he's going to get a chance with a team, and at least be able to play in this summer's league where he can show his ability. I think he needs to get in with an organization in order to show them how competetive he is, his toughness, and his leadership. If he could get on somewhere like Seattle or Houston, that would probably be a good thing.

I doubt that Will will end up in Boston. I really hope he doesn't either, because they acquired Telfair and Foye so he'd probably be buried on the depth chart. There's enough young point guards in Boston already now.

One thing I don't get about the NBA and what pisses me off is the drafting of random Euros that are not even expected to play. Why draft a guy if you're just going to leave them in Europe for 3 years? There were several teams that needed immediate help doing that when a player like Curtis or Will really could have helped them. (See Cleveland).

I dont get why the nba teams are drafting these guys from Europe either......i mean its sad not having a post that isnt even good in the post....and if u look at one of the players from Senegal,he only averaged 3 points and 4 rebounds and yet he went in the lottery.

Why don't you ask Dallas why they drafted Dirk Nowitzki?

While you're at it you can ask the Denver Nuggets why they drafted Nikoloz Tskitishvili or why Detroit drafted Darko Milicic. With all these "lousy" Europeans being drafted it begs the question, how bad was Ivan Chiriaev if he wasn't even confident he'd get drafted?
