It changed in 2003. In 03, they eliminated the 3rd team, and just went with a larger first team, second team, and honorable mention. IIRC they were running into issues with having several players tie during the voting process, so they made the first team bigger, and eliminated the 3rd team.

Overall, the first team was not a surprise. There are a few question marks on the honorable mention team, but so be it.

In that regard, why predefine the size in advance? If there are ties, let them both have the honor. It's seems like it would make more sense than having 20% of the starters in the conference on the 1st team.

Do the men also have 10 first-teamers? If so, then the whole Kane or Ejim debate on first team is moot, and if not, why would the different genders do it differently?

Last year, MBB was had 3 teams, each with 5 players. I hope they don't do it like WBB, that's just stupid to have 10 on the first team.

I have never liked it since they change the 1st team to ten instead of five. It just waters down the process. And if your going to have 10 1st teamers and 5 2nd teamers then please leave off the honorable mention category. Talk about some weaklings. Niya Johnson and Makenzie Robertson making anything "all big 12" is a joke. They made it just because they started for Baylor. As well as Cassidy Fussel. They voted for her because she used to be good. It gets like T-ball awards. Eerbody gets one.

IMO I think the first team should be no more than 7 players with the same for the 2nd team then honorabl mention. As others have posted there are to many people on first team. With that many it dimishes the honor of first team. Likr geewago it is just like T-ball, everyone gets on the team.

There's no difference in the quality in honorable mention. Either way, you have 15 people on the "teams" followed by the honorable mention category.
my point is: put 5 on the 1st team. 5 on the second team. then have honorable mention. If your going to dilute the system by adding 5 more on the 1st team, forget about honorable mention. 20% of all players getting all big 12 honors puts several on there that didn't even average 6 points a game (free throws included).

I think the biggest surprise for me is not seeing either of our frosh even getting honorable mention All Conf. Very strange.

I don't know exactly how the voting works, but I suspect each coach votes for ten players. Top ten are 1st team, next five are second team, and anyone else who received votes is HM. For Jadda or Seanna to be HM, someone would have to vote them as a top-10 player, and that's very unlikely with two teammates ahead of them.

The surprise for me is that Seanna was not unanimous but Jadda was.

And how Hallie wasn't is, well, a bit of a slap.
