While we're on the topic of floor cleaning, I CANNOT RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH a steam mop for hard floors. Just what it sounds like - fill the reservoir, put the cloth pad on the bottom, plug it in, wait for it to heat up, and it cleans up ANYTHING. 170° steam cuts through grease, wax, dried blood (dogs + raspberry bushes = occasional bloody floors), anything. No chemicals and the floor is clean and sterile afterwards. Plus it's drier than a conventional mop, and in the winter leaves your floors nice and warm. And there's no scent from chemicals either. I love that thing.
If the stain doesn't come up immediately, just let it sit for a few seconds and the heat will melt whatever it is and its easily wiped away. No hard scrubbing. Ours can also be detached from the mop head to use stiff bristles with the steam.
The only downside is it's enough heat it can damage some floors if left in one spot too long.
