Best vacuum? Dyson? Miele?

We have had a Dyson of some sort for years and really are great. But ours seem to not last as long as we think they should/parts break rather easily.

We're on the market again for a very good vacuum (we know it will be pricey but we have animals and bad allergies so it's worth the cost). Thoughts on other options besides Dyson? I've been looking at Miele quite a bit but just don't know much about them or know anyone that has one...

We bought a cordless Riccar Supralite bagged vacuum last year, and I LOVE it. Granted it was not inexpensive (just under 1k$). What sold us on the Riccar is that they are made in the USA and you can repair them easily, so it should last 15+ years, as opposed to other brands with unreplaceable parts.

Had a Dyson once, we liked it a lot but pet hair did it in (and we had a pet hair model). We ended up Buying a shark vacuum as a replacement which was pretty similar but less than half the cost. I don’t think you can go wrong with either a Dyson or a Miele. I had a good buddy that once worked for a carpet cleaning company and swore by dysons but at the same time I’ve heard really good things about mieles

yeah we have the Dyson Animal and it's time to put her down. It still works fine but a few parts are busted and it's just time for a new one.

We are beyond over our ******* expensive Dyson that is continuously clogged or the battery never lasts for the job.

Wife just bought a couple of expensive attachments for this brick. I have to figure out why the filter is clogged every goddam time I turn it on.

I have Ryobi tools. They have a vacuum that uses the same battery packs. Considering going in that direction and taking a hammer to the Dyson.

Really check the settings on your Dyson. Every time we’ve bought carpet they ask if we have a Dyson and if we do to check the height because dysons are #1 at voiding carpet warranties since they are usually set too low and shave the carpet over time. This is a very old and reliable flooring company.

We have a Kirby. Heavy duty, has tons of suction and is terrific at vacuuming up everything. Through 4 kids, a rabbit, 4 cats, 2 German Shephards and now a Newfoundland, we'd tried other cheaper options including Dyson, Shark and Bissell but nothing cleans as well as the Kirby. It's heavy as hell though so dealing with stairs is a PITA. We did get the carpet shampooing attachment which is also really good. We have used their lifetime warranty once, and in addition to fixing what was wrong they refreshed the whole unit at no cost.

Riccar are great. Not cheap but worth it especially with dogs

We have a simplicity vacuum and outside of taking it in for annual maintenance, it’s worked well for us.

We have a Shark and love it. I did a lot of looking at Dysons and Sharks before making the decision.

We also had new carpet installed a few years ago and were told some carpet manufacturer warranties are voided if you have a Dyson. The owner of the store said some of his friends had some very nice (expensive) carpet installed and a few months later the carpet fibers were fraying. Their warranty was voided because they used a Dyson. Evidently the vacuum has too much suction power and the bristles are too rigid.

I've got a Oreck but I thought it was more expensive than what it shows on the internet. Had it for quite a while does alright for me.

We’ve switched from Dyson to Shark. Dyson s kept getting clogged with my wife and daughters’ long hair. Sharks handle it much better. Most recent Shark model we bought was a Stratos, really like it.

We have a Rainbow vacuum and love it. Use a Dyson cordless for small cleaning but our Rainbow for deeper cleaning. Does a great hub but pricey!

Dyson is overpriced crap. We have 2 of them.

Feel like I’d rather have an Oreck.

Went thru a Dyson animal and cordless. They both ended up shitting the bed. We have a Shark now that has a felt roller in addition to the main roller and it really helps with long hair.

After not great experiences with Dyson and Shark went for it with the Miele blizzard cx1. Have had it for a year and so far no problems. I had the cordless Shark and loved how easy it was to vacuum stairs, light weight no cord. But it constantly needed me to surgically remove golden retriever hair and other debris. Have had no issues with Miele except getting used to the canister style and having to haul it up stairs. Good suction, and seems to be good design with no clogs. Also like the attachments, especially the one to vacuum furniture. It was an investment but so far paying off.

We had the Dyson ball one and hated it. We went to a Shark navigator for half the price and it honestly works better. Our house gets the Shark robot vacuum on a daily basis and the Shark upright about every other day because of kids and dog hair.

Otherwise I’d just go for the old Oreck commercial.
