Alright so with the school year coming up I am making it my mission to try more of the local cuisine in Ames. I figure, where better than here to get opinions on the best restaurants in town? So fire away, I'd appreciate any and all suggestions.

Hickory Park. There really is no better place in Ames.

/Thread.

Way overrated. I would go with Little Taipei.

Edit: Actually if you like BBQ a lot, HP is the best, im not saying it's bad, just not my favorite type of food.

I like HP but you are opening up a can of worms.

Pazessco, the Spice, and the Cafe have been recent favorites.

I reject your reality and substitute my own. :jimlad:

Besides, anything to stir up a little controversy and get off the subject of conference type stuff.

Is it really necessary to go through this again? Seems like we do about 3-4 times every year.

My favorites: Battle's BBQ, Thai Kitchen, The Cafe, Great Plains Pizza, HP.

If I had any rep left to give out, I would give you some right this minute. Unfortunately, I have none. But you pretty much hit just about every restaurant on my list.

Although, I would add La Fuente, and Es Tas. Steak tacos at Es Tas? Delicious.

Cocost and El Azteca. Throw in HP and that is all you will need to survive, maybe Great Plains every now and then.

Big fan of Olde Main (both their beers and food)

Yeah, Olde Main has a varied menu and everything tastes great! Cafe Northwest used to have killer steaks and Greek food, haven't been there for quite a while, tho'. (we don't go out much anymore).

Cafe Shi in North Ames is the best in my opinion, followed closely by The Spice
