Once you find the appliance you want. check if stocked at Menards and if they have the 11% off going on (technically 11% back store credit) but at least it's something back.

FYI because most people don’t know but you can get the 11 percent at Home Depot too as long as your somewhat close to a Menards store.

The website is kinda cheesy looking for a place like Home Depot but yes it works. I’ve used it multiple times. Plus you can claim it online instead of sending it in. They send a gift card

If companies build things to last, they can't sell you a new one when the first one breaks. They know this.

Has more to do with the electronic upgrades than anything. A lot more moving parts, sensors and features than refrigerators 25 years ago. That being said, customers with means rarely use big box stores.

We recently bought a fridge for our house as well. As stated above, buy from a place that has it in inventory. You may have to go to several places to check it out. What you should do is find the fridge you want to buy, then find a store who can deliver it when you need it.

The fridge we bought we found at Lowe’s and it was on sale. However, it was on back order, so delivery was expected to be several weeks out, and most likely longer with the way things are. However, Home Depot sold the same model, but not on sale. So we went there to see if they had any available, which they did. We then asked if they would price match Lowe’s, and they did. So we ended up buy at Home Depot for the same price as Lowe’s, but I’m also available when we wanted it delivered.

Like my FIL says, they make things just good enough to sell now, not to last. Totally different than the past.

My in-laws within the last couple of months had to replace their 40-year old Maytag washer and dryer. Repairman couldn't find the parts anymore.

Complaints aside about quality, their energy and water bills are significantly down with their new appliances.

I focus more on the product itself than where I buy said product. I always do a lot of research before buying. When we replaced our dishwasher, range and microwave last year we went through Best Buy but I had done a bunch of research beforehand on the actual products.

Local mom/ pop outfit that will deliver and service the products they sell. Only housewives w/o a discerning eye for reliability will spend $2500 on a Samsung appliance. I went with Kitchen Aid/Maytag in the kitchen and Speed Queen in the laundry because because of reliability and better service.
We checked all of the mom/pop places and they were 3 to 4 weeks out . Also, they did not have exactly what we were looking for. We ended up with a General Electric, that had really good reviews. We were staying away from Samsung & LG. Whirlpool items were about 3 months out. Btw, we do have a Speed Queen washer & dryer.

I'd just focus on price, reviews, and availability and go from there. I recently bought an upright freezer from Best Buy and have been happy so far.

Your post shows my age. In the old days a person/family just went and bought a freezer. In the old old days many people rented a frozen locker at the local meat supplier. Thus the name Meat locker or locker plant. Ok enough from the old guy....carry on with the thread.

We bought a new GE from Lowes on line a few months ago after looking around at what we wanted from the same three.

The second time buying from Lowes. The other was LG and the fridge was bad but Lowes was good. Waiting on LG class action lawsuit settlement.

Same here. Did research, then just ordered and had delivered. Easy.

I believe, at least last summer, Home Depot will match the 11% in store credit. They pay you in gift cards. Downside is you get a gift card for every receipt, not one card for the total of you purchased in a given time frame.
