Mike Davis at Waterloo East was a man among boys. Johnny wanted him I think but couldn't get him into school.

For some of the older people on here.

How about John Batty? He played at SE Polk and then I think he played his college ball out at Hawaii.

What Cheer, IA
If you want to slide down to 3A, I'd have to say Kyle McCann and Ben Gerleman from Creston. Do not forget Adam Haluska from Carroll. He had some major hops.
As for Kyle and Ben, Kyle went on to play quarterback and basketball for Iowa. Hayden eventually told Kyle it's time to make a decision. Kyle chose the football team.
In all honesty, he could have been a stud with Dr. Tom's basketball team. He could hit the 3 and play inside if needed. Kyle stand like 6'6 with some mad skills.
Ben was a 3 time all american at the DIII level. Infact, he won two national championships and was awarded the player of the year twice. For the life of me, I still can't figure out why he didn't play D1. Adam Haluska was as fast as I've ever seen. His speed and hops make him one of the best ever high school players ever.

I met McCann a couple weeks ago. One of the nicest guys I've ever met. He's a lawyer in the Des Moines area now.
