The one silver lining on the Alamo being an All-Big 12 matchup is that they'll avoid rematches (no ASU-BYU) and it's teams that haven't played in a while and teams that are all playoff contenders as of mid-November.

I went to memphis to watch tulsa beat the **** out of isu on a cold damp night. Colorado vs ISU in the Alamo bowl is waaaaaaay better than that.
I'd also favor the potential colorado matchup over rutgers on a baseball field, or ISU vs any middling big 10 team, or going to shreveport, or playing boise at home.

I always look at the bowls as a chance to play someone you rarely would see and out of conference for bragging rights. A game against Colorado would accomplish neither of those.

I for one have a hard time bragging for new Big 12 teams that I keep forgetting are even in the conference.

I get what you are saying, but how about the Big12 runner up isn't relegated to playing in a bowl game against a conference member. its already bad enough the 2nd place team doesn't get in the playoffs, this is like salt in the wound. Give me orlando against Miami.

I agree, but lets be real. There is zero part of this process that is fair, or has anything to do with what takes place on the field. It is all about money. Always has been. this has actually worked out in isu's favor a few times. we have been taken by bowls over teams that should have been take before us, because we travel better. unfortunately this won't work in our favor being in the big 12 for the foreseeable future.

Way up there
The downside to a Colorado matchup is you're the bad guy, everyone will be rooting against you and their fans can be pretty nasty but the upside is, wherever the Buffs go will be the most marketed and covered bowl game outside of the CFP and honestly, it'll be as big as some of them. There will be many who watch that game that don't care about the CFP. The situation is very similar to Caitlin Clark.

Next year people won't care who Miami played in a bowl but for years everyone will know who Coach Prime played in his first bowl game. It would be a ton of exposure for the program. They are the marquee name in the non playoff post season games.
