Wish mine were more mint and not worn and average. Most of the pricing for big dollars is for rare cards in super ass mint shape that are worth the money to get "graded". My Mantle would be worth some coin but it's just in average shape and isn't worth spit except to me as a childhood Mantle fan. I put it in a holder so it doesn't beat up anymore but it's like 50 plus year too late!

That's impressive. I'm in same boat to a lesser extent, have Michael Jordan's rookie Fleer but not mint or probably even excellent condition.

I'd bet even the poorest mj rookie is still worth a lot. He was the best player ever.

The Fleer I have is the most prized of all his rookie cards. My bro got it for me for Xmas when we were kids and I think he paid a buck or two for it. The condition mine is in would probably be good for maybe $1k. A mint condition of this card has sold for up to $100k.

I've got thousands of cards but mostly early 90's overproduced stuff. Most are only worth pennies. In fact, I think my most valuable cards are a few hologram Pokémon cards. Maybe $25-50 for a few of them but that's it.

Way up there
I collected a lot growing up, I've got the MJ card above, in similar condition. Bought it for $20, most I ever paid for a card, a few months before the first Beckett Basketball came out. It was something like $500 when the Beckett dropped so I didn't feel so bad.

I have tons of 80's/ early 90's cards but stopped collecting by high school. My dad collected with me but kept on buying cards until he passed. I have mountains of cards from the late 90's/2000's of his that I have no clue about. I assume Manning, Brady, Kobe, some of those stars that came up in that era..cards would start to be of value? Or is just the specialty cards, auto's, jersey pieces etc...

I wonder how much my Nick Van Exel card is worth?

I also bet I'm the only person on this site that has owned a Nick Van Exel jersey

I'm surprised the high dollar cards aren't counterfeited more (or maybe they are?). What's stopping people from doing that?

The fact that graded cards are the only ones worth big big money

I had a complete sets of the Pirates - 60 thru 66, until I found out my sister pitched them when my parents moved and I had left them stored in their basement when we moved here in 74. It did not go over very well
