Barnstormers Back Where We Belong!

TULSA, Oklahoma – Representatives from various professional football leagues, including the af2’s Iowa Barnstormers, today announced a new, top-level national arena football league named ArenaFootball1 will begin play for the 2010 season.
Representing the Barnstormers’ local ownership group at the announcement was Ankeny businessman Matt Strawn, who along with team president and co-owner Jeff Lamberti, said the Barnstormers will join the new league, which will include former Arena Football League markets such as Arizona, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Orlando. Former af2 markets making the jump to ArenaFootball1 include Tulsa and Spokane.

Following today’s announcement of the new AF1 league, Lamberti and Strawn made the following joint statement:

“This is an exciting time to be an Iowa Barnstormer. The Barnstormers are back where we belong – playing the top level of arena football in America.

“The opportunity to advance to the AF1 would not have been possible without our incredible fan base and the support of our partners in Iowa’s business community. Over the last two years, Iowans have consistently demonstrated that the best fans in all of arena football are right here in Des Moines.

“Our local ownership is committed not only to delivering a championship to Iowa, but also continuing to provide an entertaining and affordable product to fans all across Iowa.â€
