Average Attendance Predictions

In light of all the arguments about how ISU won't go 9-3, or won't go 6-6, I thought I'd offer a different kind of prediction thread.

With two sets of endzone bleachers on either side of the field, the attendance record stands at 54,475 against Nebraska in 1990. However, with the Jacobsen Athletic Building, the largest recent crowd packed 51,042 into Jack Trice vs. Iowa in 2001.

With the whole record setting season tickets hullabaloo going on recently, what are your attendance predictions for the season opener vs. Toledo, and the game vs. Nebraska? You can obviously submit predictions for the rest of the games on our home slate, but seeing as those two have the potential to be the largest crowds, what do you think will be the count?

Keep in mind the south endzone bleachers that they opened up, allowing for as many seats to open up as there are in the marching band.

I'll say around 46,000 for Toledo, a little over 50,000 for Nebraska, and an average of just below 46,000. I'll say 45,863.

I know they did. I think we'll start off on a high, and we'll have a minor losing streak in the middle of the season which may sour fans and we won't average as many as we did last year. Cyclone fans, prove me wrong.

The Nebraska game is going to be HUGE for 2 reasons. #1-Depending on how we do in the games leading up to it, it could be the game that decides the North. #2-It's the marque game on the schedule this year. I would expect 51,000+, an over-sellout.

What does everyone think about the Toledo game? I don't know if the game being on a Thursday night will help/hurt attendence. I would think that there will be 48,000-49,000 there.

As always, attendence for the remaining games will depend on how the team is doing (which is stupid). I know I'll be there for all home games, the Iowa game, and either a trip to Boulder or Manhatten.

Depends. Is attendance counted as tickets sold or is it butts in seats? Sometimes, the attendence is tix sold which is BS. I want to know how many people are in the stadium not how many could be if everyone that has a ticket showed.

Toldeo - 46,000 (August games don't typically bring large crowds, but a night game may change that)

Nebraska - 52,000 (Huge game, Huge crowd)

Season Avg - 49,000 (Larger season ticket base = +2000 increase in average attendance over last year)

The schedule is playing against us as far as attendance goes... I'd like to think we could have a sweet turnout against Nebraska... and it definately will be... but being that we play Texas first for conference games... a loss there would eliminate any possibility of a record setting attendance... we need to be undefeated to break the record.

I think we may be overestimating the amount of people for the Toledo game. I just checked the ISU website and it is still possible to get tickets in Section N which is pretty close to the middle. I think the Thursday night may hurt attendance, but we'll see. I'll be there but it is going to be tough. Don't forget that most freshmen and sophomore HS teams will be opening up that night and most Varsity HS kids aren't going to come out late the night before their first game. (and their parents may not either)

Excellent point knight... in fact, I'll lower my guess for Toledo, because I think walk-ups will decrease. So I'll say 42,000 sold... roughly 40 in the stands. Like I said, prove me wrong Cyclone Nation.

Keep in mind the south endzone bleachers that they opened up, allowing for as many seats to open up as there are in the marching band.

There will actually be more seats available than in the marching band, probably an additional 25-50%, the band tends to spread out a lot if given the space.

My guess is attendance will average around 48,000. The Toledo and UNLV games won't sell out. UNI might get alot since a good chunk of UNI fans will probably come to the game. I don't remember what the attendance was last time UNI came to Ames. Nebraska will be around 52,000 and all the other conference games will be about 49,000.

Is it possible for the record to be broken with the Jacobsen building there now? I would think JP would do everything he could to make sure the record is broken this year if at all possible to pack that many fans into Jack Trice. As with any team, it will take winning, and games that we're not favored in. Then break the record when Nebraska comes to town.

40K for Toledo, but I think this will benefit the UNLV game as most out of staters will make it a priority to get to Ames as if not they wont be able to see them again till Sept 30 vs UNI. Does anybody agree.
