Anyone know what's going on next to Howe?

For the past couple of weeks the field between Design and Howe has been fenced off and they have started digging. Is there another building going up or are they working on utilities? I was walking by and was wondering what was going on.

Actually, that space is going to be the home of two new buildings joined together by an atrium. The focus of the two buildings is biorenewable energy research. It's going to help make ISU one of the nation's leaders in the field of biorenewable energy research.

Currently there are plans for three new buildings and a parking garage. The first building to be built will be the Biorenewables Research Laboratory. The other buildings will be new buildings for ag and biosystems engineering.

I was thinking it was going to be 3, but yeah. It will actually be multiple buildings. I'd look for a press release about it, but I'm far too lazy right now. This was announced a year or two ago

They had to make it a "Biorenewable research" center to get the funding for the building I'm sure, but they wanted to bring the AgE's over into engineering land.
