Looking at an August family vacation and thinking about staying at Chateau on the Lake. Looks like it gets the highest star rating from Travelocity so I'm sure it is nice. Just wondering if anyone has any first hand accounts?

Thanks!

Yes, I have for a conference last year. It's very nice... locals used to call it the Mistake on the Lake, but it has done very well for itself.

We go down to Branson quite a bit. Have never stayed at the Chateau. But we went in and checked it out. Pricy, but very nice hotel. Worthy of the rating. It is on the fancy upscale side though. Awesome views of Table Rock. Has a spa I think if you are into that.

We have normally rented a condo when we go. Can cook your own food, etc. Thousand Hills is where it is at. On a golf course just south of the main strip.

Branson Landing has really been upgraded and has a lot of cool shops, Bass Pro, etc. I think they have a Marriott or something down there that look nice, but never stayed there.

Looks pretty nice. Didn't know if it was "too nice" for an 8yr old? Don't want to be the only one there with a young child.

Another place I will throw out there is Big Cedar, if you are into a more woodsy place. A bit off the beaten path, but a nice resort.

I have stayed there multiple times. I would recommend it. The Spa is incredible, but expensive. The only negative, it is a ways from all the other attractions. I just got back from Branson this past weekend, I did not stay at the Chateau on the Lake this time. It was the smallest amount of traffic I have ever seen there last weekend. We saw the show Noah, the scenery was incredible, I would recomment it.

How far away? I have a young daughter and it looks close to Silver Dollar City (8 miles I think it said).

Considering a condo as an alternative to the hotel. I like the idea of making some of our own dinners as well.

Both are very nice places. Here's a condo that we have stayed at that is very nice as well and 1 mile from Silver Dollar City. Not far from "Branson" but far enough to not have to deal with everything in town day in and day out.
