Anyone have to deal with Dupuytren's Contractions?

I have (early stage) Dupuytren's Contractions in one of my fingers. It looks like there are two options for treatment. One is surgery where they physically cut the cord/knot that is causing the finger to contract. The other, which I'm more drawn to is a XIAFLEX injection which dissolves the knot/cord.

Anyone here have any experience with either option for treatment?

Have had both procedures. More rehab with xiaflex and better results with surgery. Insurance initially balked at xiaflex but that was ~8-10 yrs ago so maybe more accepted mainline treatment now. Condition came back in a couple of years resulting in the surgery decision. Finger is still sort of jacked up, but at least I can put my hand in my pocket and shake someone’s hand without apologizing or explaining my condition.

I have severe arthritis in my CMC joints in both hands. If I can't give a person a hug for a greeting, and they offer to shake hands, I put my hand out with my index finger kept close together with my thumb, forcing them to place their hand between my index finger and my middle finger. I get some strange looks, but most people just accept it. Every now and again people will try to "correct" the grip, and I just pull back my hand and say "arthritis".
It's dorky, but it's self preservation.

Just noticed last night that XIAFLEx is the same drug they use to treat Pyronines Disease (curved dong). So it treats a bent penis and a cramping palm. Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Have you tried getting it hot and laying it on table with a heavy book on top for a few hours?

I'm not a doctor, though :jimlad:

You could be like Bob Dole and hold a pen in that hand at all times. :)

(This is not a serious suggestion.)

When I saw the title, my first thought was "Great, they screwed up elementary math. Now what are they trying to do to English?"

My grandpa had it pretty bad in one of his middle fingers back in the day. If I remember right, he had the surgery done, but it eventually returned.
