Anyone getting new golf clubs if the snow ever melts?

I've been thinking about getting a new set, but being that I only do it casually and I'm terrible, I can't bring myself to put a lot of money into it. But also don't want to buy some $300 set of garbage that won't last, either.

Would love to get a new set, especially updated driver, but can never stomach paying that much money.
My irons are fine, but I bought them extended but I still don't think they are fitted quite right. I need to get them fitted. I also need a new driver.
I'd love to get either the Mizuno JPX 921 SEL or the Srixon ZX7. I am currently using Titleist 690 MB but would like to change out the 3-6 irons. I took my old Tour Edge cavity backs and am currently using those for the 3-5 and using my 6-PW titleist 690mb for the rest. Makes for a nice mixed set. I would really like to get the Taylormade Sim Max driver. Heard lots of good things about it.
Whoever gets new clubs, I'll take your old ones off your hands so they don't clutter up your garage.

What do the good players recommend for high handicappers these days? I've heard a lot about the SIMs and a lot about Callaway Mavriks.
Depends on what your game looks like. Which category would you put yourself in? What’s your handicap?
I like TM irons but wouldn’t go wrong with either of these two kits for a high handicapper. Immediate forgiveness and distance upgrade from whatever you’re playing now most likely.
Playing lefty couldn't make my score much worse.
For not much more than $300 you could put together a respectable set of pre-owned clubs.
If you upped your budget to $400 or $450 you might even be able to find a “new” set of Titleist AP2’s or like a Bridgestone JGR set:

Seeing a set of irons at $1500 and a single wedge at $160 is ridiculous, but there are plenty of people out there who buy new clubs frequently and trade them in. Check out some golf forums buy/sell/trade areas, Callaway pre-owned, eBay, etc. and you'll find deals. The only thing I buy new is wedges, everything else is used. Even my last set of wedges were used.

Looking at upgrading my irons to Ping 410's once they get a price drop. Have a set of Ping G30's to trade in. Definitely get fitted for a set of irons well worth it.
I got fitted for new irons in January just to see what I liked. Found some callaways that I really liked. Now I’m just waiting for a used set or a sale when they come out with a newer set. I’m not really in a hurry so if it takes a year so be it. I’ll continue to use my old irons.

The Callaway Preowned is a great site. I purchased my Big Berthas that were listed as Good/Very Good and they were flawless. Big Bertha's are awesome, forgiving clubs for novices like me that only golf once a month or so.
