Anybody want to guess when and who ISU is playing?

One other thing i notice from the old photos of Clyde Williams and early JTS, is the total lack of Cyclone gear. No jackets, etc. Some of the goofy old yellow hats with ISU on the bill, but that's about all. Times have changed. One thing I do remember as a freshman in 1975 is being to take practically anything into the stadium. They only prohibited glass bottles. We would take empty plastic gallon milk jugs and fill them with keg beer and bring them in. No problem. You could bring food in, and even smoke tobacco products if you were so inclined.

Back in the Johnny Majors era (before I was transferred to the Detroit area), I had season tickets and sported gold bell bottom pants to go with a gold hat. Only had Clyde Williams Field to show them off though.

Ah, my freshman year. Small town kid goes to big university. Holy **** this is gonna be fun!

I'm jealous of fans in your age group. My first game at JTS coincided with the debut of Jim Criner. UI 51, ISU 10. (I think it was 30-3 at halftime — but seemed even worse).

So my experience was the opposite of yours: "Small-town kid goes to big university. Holy **** that was a rude-awakening!"

Yah we would bring an empty 5 gallon Igloo cooler, half gallons of vodka, cool aid mix from food service, mix up the "Jungle Juice" in plain sight in the restroom. No problema.

For a second, I misread it as "vodka-cool aid mix from food service." And I thought, they must've stopped offering that by the time I got to ISU.

I remember listening to that 1976 game and the next years on the radio, while doing farm work. In 1977, nut cup in place I suppose, I was thinking ISU would lose, but didn’t.

IOWA STATE 24
NEBRASKA 21

The 1977 box score shows Iowa State and Dexter Green dominating the running game, as I recalled, and a dominant ISU defense:

One regret I have is that my friend and I could have had a couple tickets to the 77 game and we talked about it and decided the revenge factor would be too much and we didn't go.
