Any gas fireplace experts?

I just replaced the thermocouple in a Heatilator gas fireplace because the pilot light wouldn't stay lit. That fixed that problem, but when I tested it out before putting the log set back in, I'm getting this gigantic orange flame coming from where the gas enters the burner. I cleaned out the little ports in the burner and messed with the air shutter a little, but nothing seems to make this go away. No bueno.

Any ideas?

OK, fine. CF let me down for the first time ever. I figured it out on my own.

Pro tip: If you have this same issue in the future, just place with your orifice a little. :)

What you do with your orifice is your own business, really.

I had no idea I had so many. I have 7 out of the 8. How do I place it with my orifice?:):) Glad you got it fixed without a bill$$$.

Examples of orifices
  • Mouth: Used for eating, drinking, breathing, and speaking

  • Nostrils: Used for breathing and the sense of smell

  • Ear canals: Used for hearing

  • Anus: Used for defecating waste products

  • Urinary meatus: Used for micturition in both males and females, and ejaculation in males

    • Vaginal orifice: A median slit below and behind the opening of the urethra
    • Umbilicus: A concealed "natural orifice" that marks the spot where the umbilical cord was attached
    • Pore: A tiny orifice that allows the excretion of sebum and sweat

Sorry man. My brother works for the company and I didn’t get any time to message him today.

It’s more complex than that.

I don’t understand the explanation of the solution. I don’t have a gas fireplace but I’m now irrationally concerned that I may someday and then have this same problem.
