We own KC.

I'd like to know if any other team has dominated the Big 12 tournament like that.

96-97 KU might fit the bill.

Big 12 Tournament
3/7/1997No. 1vs. Oklahoma State
Quarterfinals
W 74–59 30–1Kemper Arena
Kansas City, MO
3/8/1997No. 1vs. No. 16 Iowa State
Semifinals
W 72–48 31–1Kemper Arena
Kansas City, MO
3/9/1997No. 1vs. Missouri
Championship Game
W 87–60 32–1Kemper Arena
Kansas City, MO

Granted, Houston was limping in a bit and Sampson called off the dawgs but I think the way ISU was playing they still win by 15+. It was just their night all over the court.

66 point difference vs. 61, so pretty comparable.

Fwiw, ISU played seeds 10, 3 and 1 on the way to title ... KU faced 8, 4 and 10.

Somehow, that KU team didn't even reach the Elite 8. (ISU '24 didn't, either, but we weren't a 1 seed with a 32-1 record).

We have half the tourney championships in the last 10 years.

I remember one of the "inside the eye" episodes they talked about it...and it does seem like it is their "go to" bonding on the road, etc.

I saw some folks mocking it on X....oh well....if it was part of a team deal and they wanted it, great memory for later and to share.

They ran into a AZ team with lots of talent that found it's groove at the right time. They were one of the best teams of the 90s though.

Roy could never break through at KU.

True on both aspects.

The win over KU got Zona rolling - still the only team to defeat three 1 seeds en route to title.

Roy had several teams that killed it in regular season, but got bounced way early in tournament - ‘92 and ‘98 had 1 seed and lost in round of 32. I don’t think either of those were as dominant entering tournament as ‘97, though.

I remember being in total shock when that '97 team lost. They had some chances and just kind of flinched.

Their '98 loss to Rhode Island kind of felt like they were still hungover or something. It was a slow death to Lafrentz's career.

I like seeing this done because it has meaning to them as a team and it's smart to insert yourself into popular culture, which makes you cool and "with it".

Bravo.

Yup. I've played it on line. Also participated in an Among Us themed mafia game on CF. It's where I got the "accidental assassin" part of my bio - I was an imposter, and I kept killing people without meaning to but still getting away with it. :D
