Here's the Pollard quote:
You guys, the tax rate in California is 60 percent. We talked about that this weekend, Matt and I. If you’ve got to go there and it takes you 100 hours a week to do the job, how do you feel if you’re only getting paid for 40 of those 100 hours? Because that’s what it is. All your staff, all the way down the line, are only going to get paid for 40 of those 100 hours because the state of California and the federal government and whatever municipality that’s taking this excised tax and whatever other liberal thing they’re doing in California is taking the other 60 percent. They don’t always think about that.
I like Pollard but that's a really dumb quote. Especially in today's day and age.He had no need to make it political. Also that isn't how taxes work

Omaha
one thing that struck me is USC buying a 6M home. I wonder if that should read "Giving him 6M to put towards a home"
quick zillow search in that area doesn't add up. I have a feeling he will be in the 10-15M range, but I got to remember its not like you have to buy the whole house either....you can just pay the mortgage.

I would say Kelly is getting a hell of a deal. A simple cost of living translator says 10M in Baton Rouge equals 15M in LA to maintain the same standard.

This is a new arms race that is going to be hard to win for 85% of the universities. at some point it also needs to stop.

I didn't even realize that some of these top school assistant coaches are getting 1-3M per year. WTF...

My kids have said I should move to Calif. I told them Texas if anywhere. They asked why? I said if Texas and Calif get in a Civil War, I want to be on the winning side. JUST JOKING relax!

Anywhere but Austin is a s**t hole in Texas though…. I wonder why that is? What is it about Austin that makes it the most attractive place in Texas to live?

It's no different than construction. I have construction clients who have to withhold taxes in non-iowa states when they do work there. It's really not that big of a issue.
Musicians too.

Alright now I'm even more curious....a lot of people travel out of state for work -- meetings, consults, etc that can be from half-day to multiple days. Are they supposed to be withholding taxes from their home state/paying taxes in another as well?

Asking for a...friend
