I know what the schedule is. I know they play a mixed schedule every year.

not sure why is considered so difficult. It’s not.
The most difficult game ND has played in the last 5 years was the Camping World Bowl.

Notre Dame's SOS is often gaming it a bit.

danville is obviously a hater. They played Clemson twice last year. They played Cincy this year and they've played Georgia twice in the last 4 or 5 years. They play teams from 4 or 5 different conferences all over the country every year. Dumb. Lol....

Also, how sure are we of Campbell’s “fit” at ND? Cardinal and gold colored glasses off, you don’t gut a program that’s made the playoffs multiple times over the past 5 years and replace it with a program builder.

I have no doubt HCMC would kill it at ND, but it is a bit of a bigger risk for them to pull in a “culture changer” rather than ride with the culture they’ve already built.

I really think they're gonna hire Freeman. Recruits have been all over social media. Players have been in touch with admins. They all want Freeman. This is great news for ISU..

It depends on the year.

Sometimes its a bit gamed when they talk about their SOS. They may not have as much elite competition, but also don't have the truly terrible competition, so the average remains high, while not taking on as many serious threats.

If Notre Dame offers then Campbell will take it. But I have a feeling ND has their sights set on Fickell. Undefeated. Team in Playoff contention.

Maybe 7-5 this season after being rated #7 in the pre-season wasn’t such a bad thing after all.

This thread is pretty intense. I don’t see Campbell as the top ND option, but who knows? I’m just hoping that Fickell gets the job or Freeman gets promoted from within the coaching staff at ND. Things are heating up a little bit.
I would rather have CMC and Fickell stay in their current positions so that the Big 12 can have good coaches to continue making it a better league.

Agree, obviously. The only problem is both of them have to be considered top options for the ND job. The likelihood of them both staying at their current jobs is suspect.

That’s a very strong reason not to coach at USC and a smart perspective by Jamie. Why don’t you donate your entire paycheck to the government if that’s how you feel. There is no max limit, cut the check.
My kids have said I should move to Calif. I told them Texas if anywhere. They asked why? I said if Texas and Calif get in a Civil War, I want to be on the winning side. JUST JOKING relax!

I personally don't like all the comments about Riley being scared of the SEC. He would have been fine. They are (at some point) going to expand the playoffs anyway so they are still one of the best teams in the SEC.
He was just simply pointing out that the move to the SEC is just a money grab, unnecessary and didn't want to do it. OU is thriving on the current setup and would have pretty much been in an expanded playoff situation every year. putting them with a chance to win a title every year.

that does becomes more difficult in the SEC although depending on the schedule setup so who knows....They are not going to play 6 teams in the conference each year so some years will be easier than others.
But to say OU will be irrelevant is inaccurate. Part of me hopes they fall like Nebraska did and currently Texas though.

also just seems odd that you get all these Tennessee, S Carolina, Vandy, Miss/MSU, mizzou, kentucky, arkansas fans who for some reason think they should get some gold medal for sucking in the SEC. Once the SEC moves to 9 conference games, some of these teams will not make their 6-6 record to get to a crappy bowl game.
it blows my mind how fans of those teams say. "we play in the SEC and our TV revenue is going to be $80M per year."

Me: Ok...you are 4-8 with wins over Fordham, UAB, Kent State and Vandy. Congrats on having more money?
meanwhile they are on their 5th coach in 15 years because they can't win. Nobody cares and the bottom HALF of the league exist primarily to feed the top half with wins.

all this just pisses me off because its so greedy and dirty. Businesses are being affected, Jobs affected, rivalries just thrown away, geographical proximity out the window, etc...
just because a few rich morons want a few more million per year. Money ruins a lot of nice things.

I need to go to bed and forget about all this for a few hours..lol
Well said......the way it works, not everyone can win, lol....and seems that money will just be basically used for coaching buyouts, lol.

Cali folks will be stoned to care about fighting and Texas people will be too drunk to land a punch.

We need Rose, Brock, Charlie, Breece, Chase to go to CMC "coach, here's your chance to prove people wrong like we did!". LOL

Here's the Pollard quote:
You guys, the tax rate in California is 60 percent. We talked about that this weekend, Matt and I. If you’ve got to go there and it takes you 100 hours a week to do the job, how do you feel if you’re only getting paid for 40 of those 100 hours? Because that’s what it is. All your staff, all the way down the line, are only going to get paid for 40 of those 100 hours because the state of California and the federal government and whatever municipality that’s taking this excised tax and whatever other liberal thing they’re doing in California is taking the other 60 percent. They don’t always think about that.

Tell me you don’t understand how marginal tax rates work without telling me … oh, wait, you literally are telling me you don’t understand marginal tax rates.

Not exactly sure.
one thing that struck me is USC buying a 6M home. I wonder if that should read "Giving him 6M to put towards a home"
quick zillow search in that area doesn't add up. I have a feeling he will be in the 10-15M range, but I got to remember its not like you have to buy the whole house either....you can just pay the mortgage.

I would say Kelly is getting a hell of a deal. A simple cost of living translator says 10M in Baton Rouge equals 15M in LA to maintain the same standard.

This is a new arms race that is going to be hard to win for 85% of the universities. at some point it also needs to stop.

I didn't even realize that some of these top school assistant coaches are getting 1-3M per year. WTF...
Our OC and DC are paid a million.

Why did Brian Kelly jump ship so fast? What’s the backstory? Is something coming from the NCAA like the 2012 and 2013 seasons where the NCAA forced Notre Dame to vacate all of their wins, including their 12-0 season? Is Notre Dame joining the SEC? If this is Campbell’s dream job, I wish him the best, but I still hope that he stays in Ames for a long time.

Kelly was getting 5 mil at ND. LSU is giving him 15mil now. He'd be crazy not to take that offer.
