A couple months after the AAC and ESPN tried to kill the Big 12… the AAC is now arguably the 8th best conference behind the Power 5, Mtn West, and Sun Belt.

Guessing the divisions will be:

West:
Navy
SMU
UTSA
Rice
North Texas
Tulsa
Tulane or Memphis

East:
Tulane or Memphis
UAB
USF
FAU
East Carolina
Charlotte
Temple

Yikes

Thought Conference -USA tried to get something going but the AAC didn't want a merger.

Guess the AAC just wanted to cherry pick.

The business of college athletics just sucks.

C-USA is now down to 8 and no one but independents will join them. Army would probably decline, so their realistic choices are New Mexico State, Liberty, UMass, and maybe an FCS elevation or taking on UConn as a football only member (and UConn may also decline).

If you’re talking about Navy in the West, they already are and they specifically requested it because they recruit Texas so heavily. This Diet AAC has to keep Navy happy because they are very viable as an independent.

Didn't realize Temple was AAC for football.

Way up there

This is an interesting move from the MWC perspective. AAC just gobbled up the TX schools. Now they're looking at CUSA leftovers or maybe Sunbelt schools. They have said they want to expand...where do they go? AAC? Does AAC know they are losing teams to the MWC? You have to think CUSA is done right? They don't have much potential to add teams, seems like the MAC or SBC could plunder whatever is left.

SMU to the Mountain West seems obvious. Maybe Memphis or Tulsa to go along with them? UTEP and New Mexico State belong in the Mountain West but I don’t see that happening.
