This bowl prediction on ESPN.com has us pegged for the Insight Bowl. That wouldn't be horrible, and the people in Arizona would probably be happy. I hope we do better, but this would be acceptable to me.

It'll be horrible for Clone fans if the NFL Network isn't added to Mediacom by then. The NFL Network has the broadcast rights to the Insight Bowl and with Iowa fans being "ho-hum" about missing out on the telecast of next week's opener against Montana, IMO it doesn't bode well in getting Mediacom to add the NFL Network.

Speaking of which, man, you would think there would be a bigger outrage over the whole ESPNU/Montana situation, but there just doesn't seem to be one (an uproar).

Back to topic at hand....

Is there any reason as to why this game is on the NFL network? I never understood that. I get the NFL network and ESPNU so this is no problem. It's like the other week when they were showing world cup soccer on ESPNU, or cartoon network showing Pee Wee's playhouse, or MTV not showing any music videos, or Lifetime showing a movie where a woman doesn't get beaten...

NFL Network bought the rights to it, along with the Houston Bowl (whatever it's called now) as well as the Senior Bowl.

As long as we get to play a BCS team that is ok with me. Nothing worse than going to a bowl where the SEC etc... can't fill there spots and then we play a dangerous non-BCS school.

Our last 3 bowl games have been against no-win situation teams, and we lost to 2 of them.

We need to be playing decent BCS schools. that helps recruiting.
Insight would be good b/c its warm, lots of alum, and we play middle pick B10 school.
My perfect world would be BCS Bowl, Cotton, Holiday, Alamo (insight/Sun)
Throw in Gator on odd years after BCS Bowl.

My old post alerted all to the fact the Houston Bowl is now the PetraSun Independence Bowl. PetraSun is an oil services company somewhere in SW Louisiana/west texas trying to hit the big time. Used to be called the Poulan Weedeaters Bowl in the nineties.

We will be in a bowl game since it appears Big 12 has up to 8 slots/chances.

The real question is will the Huwkeyes play on New Years Day next year?

The Magic Eightball says...

All signs point to yes.

Actually, the Houston Bowl was renamed the Texas Bowl. The Independence Bowl just added PetraSun as the sponsor. (They had been sponsor-less for a couple of years)

You would have never guessed that it was sponsorless if you attended both games. You couldn't walk 10 feet without seeing a Mainstay sign...
