I took a look on rivals at the top 10 players in Iowa for 2003 and I noticed we got 7 of the top 10 Iowa kids that year.

List:

1. John Tjaden

2. Aaron Brant

3. Mike Klinkenborg (UI)

4. Todd Blythe

5. Taylor Schrage

6. Brandon Cook

7. Milan Moses

8. Jonathon Zanders (UI)

9. Bret Meyer

10. Tim Molencamp (DII)

my question is what changed from 2003 to now? I mean, we nearly shut out Iowa recruiting in the state. Just an observation...

Well, they came in before Iowa went to 4 straight New Year games, and ISU had a 2-10 season after that. So take your pick which one had the bigger effect. Plus i think it really depends on who you grew up watching, Iowa or ISU. For most it Iowa.

If you want to recruit you better do better than Shreveport. Recruits notice.

That '03 class is really special, many starters from that class: Jackson, Blythe, Brant, Meyer, Berg, Curvey, Barkema, Kurtis Taylor (should be), Berryman (was), Schmeling, and a slew of other players on the two deeps. I think the '06 class may have similar success with the emergence of guys like Arnaud, Johnson, Williams, Frere, Garrin, and Parker.
