Where they love the governor
I remember seeing a photo from behind the stands during a game at Clyde Williams.

The stands were literally right on top of the road between the stadium and Helser across the street.

Just fits! My high school cross country coach ran at ISU and told stories about running under the bleachers.

Google maps of Jack Trice now (satellite view) still has old aerial pictures. The south endzone still has the small bleachers there.

Isu tidbit from those days. My chiropractor walked on at ISU during the Bruce/Duncan years. He said the school year had quarters back then instead of semesters, and often players would find themselves ineligible for bowl games because they did poorly in the classroom. He recalls ISU being rather short handed at a bowl game due to grades.

I think it technically started in the late 70's when the CFA was formed. They essentially sued the NCAA for TV rights. For quite a few years college football was more tied the CFA than they were the NCAA.

I think it was 1984 when they won their tv rights case against the NCAA.

I was there in late '60's. ISU had 12,400 students in my '64 freshman year.

'Remember the opposing OK State player running from the bench sidelines and tackling an ISU player streaking to the goal line. Would be interesting to hear him tell the story now, and how it fit onto his resume.

Yes, Chris Boskey was ineligible for the 1978 bowl because of grades. IIRC. Big loss for the defense.

The entrance music was something like this...

Just wait for it

SOB, Astrud Gilberto. One of my all time favorites. Nothing more relaxing than sitting by my pool sipping bourbon on ice and listening to Astrud Gilberto on my Sonos 5. For hours at a time in the summer.

Good job out of you.

I went to one game there when I was five with my Dad and my Grandpa. I don't remember much, except that we sat in the end zone on Lincoln Way and there was a streaker who interrupted the game by running on the field

I ask this in every Clyde Williams thread: What year was the stadium demolished? I know it was still there in fall '76, my parents and I went to visit my sister (her first semester) and we had to pick up one of her friends at Friley. And she said "There's the old stadium" as we drove around the loop.
