They've done a good job of keeping it under wraps. I'm just as clueless as everyone else. I do know however it has something to do with Campus Town. Apartments or something maybe?

Great advertising in my opinion. They have people wondering.

My mom is friends with the owner of Cafe Beaudelaire and apparently isu is going to buy all the businesses on lincoln way and make their own stuff. Don't know if thats what this is about but that was my first reaction.

I heard somewhere that ISU was trying run the bars out of campustown. Any truth to that?

No. They're not that stupid. The area could use some cleaning up, though, and some buildings leveled. It's a shame what they did to Cy's Roost.

Seems like I read a while back that a developer had bought the east half of campustown, but was having trouble buying the west half. They were going to tear it down to build a hotel and restaurants and what not.

City of Ames cut ties with the planning group out of Kansas City.

Nothing ever happened, but there was a consulting firm called LANE4 that was looking into Campustown redevelopment - buying existing businesses and bringing in some more, including looking at a drug store and/or a family restaurant. Campustown business owners resisted, and LANE4's model was outside of the budget that the city and unversity wanted to pursue, so the whole thing fell apart.

No idea what this 9/24 thing is either, but I'm kind of interested to see.

Other than it's name, Cy's Roost is the WORST bar in all of Ames.
Yes, it ranks below outlaws in my book.

that sucks. in the early and mid 00's (01-05) it was easily the best.

I was there during this time period and I find this to be a wild exaggeration. However, it's undeniable how crappy it has become. I was there after the Iowa game and I don't even know how to describe what they're going for on the inside there, but it certainly is awful. And, they were charging $10 for pitchers in Ames frickin Iowa! Ridiculous.
