I think the job opportunities that arose for our former football coach speak highly of his ability. Nuff said. The only thing that kept Johnny Orr from going just about anywhere he wanted from ISU was his age.


Actually, Johnny could have had the Ohio State job after Eldon Miller was fired. They came after Johnny, hard, but by his sixth year here, he wasn't going anywhere.

Way to beat a man when he is down.


How is he down???? He made, and continues to make, millions from Iowa State, when no other university would have kept him employed. He always talked about how great his wife is, and his family is doing well, that is the important stuff, so how is he down???

He was one of eight coaches who were at their jobs for as long, or longer, than McCarney. The other seven won a lot of big games to get that right.

And Ketelmeister is absolutely dead on. The opportunities that presented themselves to McCarney, not the silly speculation done by many on this site to try to justify their beliefs in this guy, speak volumes of the respect that he truly attained as the head coach of my favorite team.:no6xn:
